“Incredible Staff, Lovely Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

Three travelers flew in from Florida to attend a Chuck Berry concert at Blueberry Hill. The hotel we wanted to stay at was fully booked, so they suggested the Cheshire. So glad they did! Cannot imagine a more interesting, convenient or relaxing hotel.

The staff was terrific, the breakfasts were wonderful and having tea available all the time made you feel so pampered.

Our stay was in the "Wind and the Willows" room which was clean and comfortable - the beds were awesome.

Only two suggestions:

1. Did not care for the motion detector lights in the bathroom that took 5 minutes to go off

2. Hit our legs on the end of the beds because you could not see them because of the bedding - still have a HUGE bruise still on the leg from this. We are not the only people that had the problem - we talked about it with other guests at breakfast when we overheard them mentioning how their leg was hurting - and the front desk said they "hear that all the time" when we mentioned it at check out. Maybe a change in comforter or bedspreads is in order for safety?

The staff went out of their way to be helpful and made the entire stay wonderful.

Great find!

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. Our city's favorite musician tends to the Delmar Loop every month which is only approximately 10 minutes away from The Cheshire. We are happy you and your travelers were able to stay with us and enjoyed our accommodations even if it wasn't originally intentional!

Our tea/coffee service and continental breakfast are one of many complimentary services we offer. With the warmer weather upon us, our free bike rentals and outdoor pool is a must when you're back in town!

We apologize for the inconveniences of the bed frame, and we have tasked ourselves to help prevent this from happening to any of our guests. As mentioned, we hope our wonderful staff was able to assist you with all your needs.

Sincerely,
The Cheshire Team

I booked a group stay at the Cheshire in St Louis for a meeting at the St Louis Zoo. The hotel was very accomodating for our group and had no trouble adapting to changes leading up to the stay. The hotel was so spunky and fun - all the guests loved the rustic decor and it was a relaxing place to stay and wind down after a long day of work. The rooms were clean, spacious, and relaxing, and the beds were UNBELIVABLY comfortable. The staff, especially Kevin and Billy at the front desk, took care of all our requests. If I have to return to St Louis this is certainly where I would stay!

JEvanswi,

Thank you for sharing your experience at The Cheshire. One of the best aspects of the property is its location. We are located in the center of St. Louis, minutes from the local attractions as the zoo, museums, mall, downtown, and many great dining establishments in the local neighborhood areas.

Another great aspect is our unique features and design. Where else can you say you've stayed in Mary Shelly's 'Frankenstein' room or Ian Fleming's 'James Bond' suite at The Cheshire?

We are very glad you've enjoyed our accommodations. On behalf of the hotel and staff, we look forward to your return!

Sincerely,
The Cheshire Team

I stayed a night in the Rudyard Kipling room with my family. The Old English style decor was beautiful and the hotel was nice and quiet. There were even a couple restaurants connected to the same parking lot to eat at; very convenient!

Hi janenramsey,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us at The Cheshire. The 'Rudyard and Kipling' room is one of many unique rooms in the hotel as each room is uniquely named after an English poet or writer; it makes each visit unique and memorable.

The Cheshire, after so many years, has always kept its original English charm. The addition of our new venues and on top of our 2011 hotel renovation has improved this landmark to a must-go-to destination here in St. Louis.

We hope for your return visit!

Sincerely,
The Cheshire Team

Stayed at this boutique hotel in St. Louis for a family event at the end of April. The room was very well appointed and clean. The light in the bathroom is a minor irritation. Overall a good value and one of the best places I've stayed in the area after a dozen years of coming to St. Louis. The continental breakfast offered to guests is excellent and the service good. Our group had dinner at The Restaurant on the day of our event and it was first rate for food, decor and service. A very fine experience. I can't say the same for the experience of breakfast at "The Market". The place was dirty...dirty tables, dirty floor, dirty counters...and the service was lackluster and/or distracted. Overall two paws down. If you're going to St. Louis I highly recommend the Cheshire and The Restaurant but stay away from The Market.

Hi MapleAveCrowd,

Thank you for taking the time to write your review on your stay at The Cheshire and for experiencing the dining venues our hotel have to offer. We push for quality in our services and our complimentary continental breakfast is no exception; a lot of the meals offered are made on premises over at The Restaurant you've enjoyed!

In consideration, The Market opened in April 2013 and we apologize for the unorganized experience you've encountered.

We are happy you had a good experience staying at our hotel. The automatic light fixtures are not for everyone and our staff is prepared to find a suitable solution in case it becomes an inconvenience for our guests.

We look forward to your return to St. Louis!

Sincerely,
The Cheshire Team

Old English decor with themed rooms, 3 delicious restaurants on site, live weekend music and bonfire by the pool, free bike rentals for Forrest park, dogs welcome, $7 to park in the garage (lame) but free wifi. Enjoyed every bit of it!

My wife and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary and heard this was a fun place to stay. When we arrived we had a little trouble parking. There was no space in the parking out front...and there were a lot of people walking around. We were directed underneath into a creepy parking structure--There was no room and had to park on street. When we got in we had to wait a couple minutes to check in but (usually this would be a bad thing) but "Annie" and "Benjamin" made the wait well worth it!-It was the most entertaining check in my wife and I have ever experienced. The best way to heal a wound is with laughter...and they did just that! Room was nice, i dont know when it was renovated last but there was A LOT of dust. Fox and hounds was definitely an experience. Restaurants on the site were great...but very busy. The Farmers Market had great sandwiches and we were surprised to find the same desk employee working there the next day! Weather was ok and the hotel was smack in the middle of clayton-So there are St. louis' best attractions near by. If you are visiting this is hands down the perfect place to stay. The Cheshire's great service will overshadow the few disappointments we had. We will recommend that all our friends celebrate at this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms are a little dusty. Beware of parking. Dont book a room overlooking the busy road. Best servic...

Stvmusic67,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review! Parking has been a tough obstacle to tackle here on property. With the multiple establishments of the dining venues, cigar club, and the hotel, parking has become much more limited. Considering how much traffic comes through our property each day, security is always a priority; we have a security staff overseeing the property every night.

One of the best aspects of staying at a boutique property is having a more personalized experience. Our staff is essential in making this happen and we are so happy to hear you've had such a experience with them!

We do apologize about the dust. The Cheshire was last renovated in 2011 and even with the new furnishings, a lot of the original parts of hotel has been kept to preserve its original charm.

Once again, thank you for sharing your experience at The Cheshire. We look forward to your next stay with us.

Sincerely,
The Cheshire Team

We recently stayed at the Cheshire on two seperate occasions. The rooms are very comfortable but could have used a touched up. They were clean, just dusty. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous...check-in and out were a breeze. Loved the breakfast and could have spent hours touring the establishment. We will be back!!

Hi MollyMac_11,

Thank you for writing such a pleasant review from your stays at The Cheshire. We are glad you've enjoyed our comfortable rooms as they were renovated in 2011 with updated furnishings and amenities that we all enjoy. In regards to the dust, our staff is very prompt and we hope we had resolved the issue with satisfaction.

As a St. Louis landmark and one of the very few 4 Diamond properties in St. Louis that offers a complimentary continental breakfast that you've enjoyed, we hope you would return soon to enjoy our summer amenities!

Sincerely,
The Cheshire Team
