Stayed at this property on the weekend of the 4th of July. Hotel is about as close to the Arch as any. It was perfect in the fact that all we had to do was exit out of the hotel and walk across the street to the park to watch the fireworks.
The Good: - Location, Price (got it for $89 - not bad for a holday weekend), within walking distance to the ballpark and many downtown restaurants
The Not so Good: - Parking - $25 per day valet service. When we arrived it was a madhouse. Cars out front waiting and lined up down the street. No problems the rest of the weekend. Elevators - After the fireworks everyone wanted to get back to their rooms - the elevators could not handle it and there people taking the escalator to the 2nd floor and intercepting the elevator before it came back to the lobby. A minor problem, but I can see it being an issue after a ballgame with about 200 people that have been drinking. Pool - there is not one. Don't bring your kids if a pool is a must.
The rooms are pretty small - they are nicely remodeled, but they are small.
The Bad: Had an issue with a Room Service order, but they comp'd it, so nothing to report - stuff happens, especially in foodservice. I think the $25 valet was a little steep, but the service was hired out by Hyatt, so it is probably to be expected. This is an old hotel so the walls are very thin - - there was a lot of noise in the halls and doors that were slamming. Definately built before any soundproofing technology.
I would recommend this hotel for people going to a ball game or that want to visit downtown (Arch etc) - but would not if you want access to your car several times a day or if you have kids that want the use of a pool.
