“Great staff picks and training”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

First, let me say that this property should be re-branded higher up the Hyatt family of brands. I have not visited a Hyatt Regency of this high quality for decades.

Views of the Arch from the lobby and from the on-site steakhouse/bar are just splendid, and I understand that some guest rooms enjoy the same views.

Most important, however, are the staff. I never once walked into, out, or through the interior of the hotel without more than one staff member greeting me with warmth, asking whether they could do anything to assist me, and being professionally welcoming in every way. The professionalism of their perfect manners struck exactly the right balance and kept it from being annoying, phony, or sticky-sweet. Each staff member keeps a sharp eye, observing and focused on the quality of stay for the guest rather than focusing on each other. I saw staff members literally run to help a guest who tripped. Staffers ran interference and communicated thoroughly with taxi drivers in the cab line. The facilities were kept clean, attractive, and safe, as well as welcoming and warm. Bartenders in the three bars were wonderful, professional, yet remembered me and my every preference.

The soaring windows, interesting decor, and ceiling heights in the lobby create a place where people want to hang out which gives it a bustling yet "huge, elegant living room" feel, unlike so many hotels where the lobby seems to be "off limits" unless you are conducting business with the hotel.

Finally, viewing the Arch from the on-site steak house, the lobby, and from some rooms, as well as the river from many rooms, establishes a real sense of place for this Hyatt Regency, removing it from the "seen one, seen them all" syndrome that plagues so many hotel chains.

I would re-brand this as a Park Hyatt.

The location of the Hyatt is great for touring major landmarks of St. Louis or for walking to a Cardinals game at Busch or a Football game at the dome. Service was fast and friendly and the rooms meet the standards you expect of a Hyatt.

The previous time we stayed here we had a king room with a great view of the arch, which was nice. However, you can only look at the arch for so long. This time we were asked if we would like to upgrade to a king suite with a view of the city for $25 more. We were so glad that we chose this. The view was magnificent during the day and breathtaking at night. The only glitch in our stay was that there were no towels at all in the room when we got in there. Otherwise we had no complaints. We ate breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel and chose the buffet which was very complete and very tasty and also a little pricey, but probably no worse than anywhere else in the area. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we will definitely return there again.

Great central downtown location. Walk to the Arch, baseball park, restaurants, and other sites. All the staff from the front door to housekeeping were all friendly. Well kept building, room, and conference area. Good restaurant and bar choices onsite. I would definitely stay again.

Can't believe how courteous the staff at this hotel were-from the housekeepers to the security! Highly recommended. Would definitely go back and an added bonus is that you couldn't possible be any closer to the Arch! Beautiful views of old courthouse, the Mississippi River and The Arch!

The opening day package is fantastic. Great tickets to the Cardinals baseball game. The engraved baseball bat is gorgeous..... the room was very quiet and over looked the arch. The staff was helpful and polite. A great place to stay in St. Louis while attending any sport activity.

The hotel is very pretty and has 3 restaurants differing in price range, a gift shop and a Starbucks (I don't like Starbucks but you should know it is there). The hotel itself is about what you would expect for this price range..EXCEPT: NO pool or hot tub! I was surprised at this as that is usually a very common feature at most hotels. They said they had a nice workout facility, which I did not get time to visit. The staff was very helpful and accommodating.
