“Fall is the Best Time to Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

Fall is a wonderful time to visit the gardens. The cool days are a good time for a stroll back to the Japanese Garden and if you have a few extra minutes visit the gift shop. If you even have more time, grab lunch at the café. A little pricy but the outdoor patio is a great place to meander over something to drink and enjoy the day. If you have kids with you be sure to watch the koi (great big gold fish looking things) and brings some quarters and get some fish food at the pond. A great way to spend a couple hours on a fall afternoon.

“Treasureable Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

The Missouri Botanical Garden has everything you'd expect and more. I have been visiting this site for decades, and it never disappoints. I have gone with my family, friends, and my 6th grade students. I have gone for a short visit (90 minutes), and I have spent the entire day. The garden is divided into themed areas that highlight specific plants for that genre. There is a special area for children of all ages as well as special attractions that change from year to year. Every person that has joined me at the garden has had a memorable experience. Whether you just want to enjoy the beauty that the garden offers, or make a point of learning while you are there, you will have a wonderful time.
Tips:
If it's warm enough, be prepared to let your children run through the fountains located throughout the garden.
Bring quarters to buy food for the fish in the Japanese Garden area.
Have your list of gardening questions ready for the helpful experts to answer.
If you're planning a landscaping project, bring a sketch pad. You'll want to take notes of plants and design options that you see.
If you are a teacher - visit the garden or the garden website and have a scavenger hunt activity booklet ready. My 6th grade boys wrote poetry amid the streams of the English Woodland Garden!
There's plenty of free parking, wheelchair availability, and a tram if needed.
Bring some spending money because the gift shop is amazing.
There is a restaurant and a snack shop on the grounds as well as vending machines. Nice.

“Burns Kunz Wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

The wedding was held in the Japanese Garden, very beautiful setting. Everything ran smoothly and on time. The reception was held indoors right after the cermony which was very well laid out, food choices were excellent as well as the drink choices.

“Japanese Festival is Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

Been held every year for >30 years. Lots of Japanese food, exhibits, merchandise and shows. The garden itself is remarkable too. We will go back in the spring to just spend time in walking around.

“This is a True Jewel in St. Louis!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

I have lived in St. Louis for almost 20 years. This is the premier place to see, in my humble opinion. If you do not love flowers, trees, or landscaping, then don't go here. But for those of us who are humbled when we look at a blooming iris, tulip, or orchid, gasp to see a 200-year-old tree, or revel in the simplicity of a Japanese garden, you will be so impressed. There are horticulturists on premises for any questions you might have. It is wonderful to walk along the pathways and sit and relax on a bench. I never grow tired of going here because something is always in bloom. Even in the colder months, beauty is growing inside various on-site buildings.

There are special exhibits throughout the year, so if you're coming to St. Louis, be sure to check the internet to see the upcoming events. There are special children's sections, so they are also welcome. If you have any difficulty getting around, there is a tram that runs every hour. Also, special groups of 15 or more can schedule the tram for tours. As you can imagine, a lot of weddings are held here. Don't miss this special experience!
