“The BEST SMOKED RIBS EVER!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

A BIG thanks to everyone at Pappy's. A big shout out to our waiter Frankie. The ribs, turkey, and hot links were so good. Lucky for us we have to go back to St. Louis several times this year.

“BBQ Good....sides are awesome too!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

Went for lunch. Long line, moved relatively fast. Had the Big Ben ... ribs, brisket, pulled pork and chicken. All were delicious, but I really enjoyed the sides. Had green beans, sweet potato fries, cole slaw and baked beans. All fresh, seasoned weill, delicious. We will be back!

“Great BBQ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

We read all the reviews, now we had to try it. Yes, it was really as good as they say it is. Yummy!! Went at lunchtime. Beware, the place gets crowded quickly. However, they know how to handle all the business in an efficient and friendly manner. Had the BBQ salad and loved it. Husband had the pork lunch special and he loved it. We would give it a two thumbs up and would definitely be a repeat customer.

“No big deal”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

Barbecue was tasty, but nothing to write home about. Would I go back? Maybe, but no urgency to do so.

“Good BBQ, but not the greatest.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

When in St. Louis, people say "go to Bogart's" or "you have to go to Pappy's". There is extreme loyalty when people discuss either, kind of of a Coke vs. Pepsi or Ford vs. Chevy. Have been to Bogart's and thought we would now try Pappy's. Long line to get in, but their system works, after we ordered there was a table available. Ribs were good and meaty with a nice smokiness. You can taste the pepper in their rub, also had a nice glaze. The BBQ sauce was fair, but the rib tastes good without any sauce. The brisket was moist and tender, but lacked a nice smoke ring and I really couldn't taste any smoke. The pork was good, nice flavor, not dry at all. Another person in the group had the Frito Pie (Fritos, beans, your choice of meat, cheese and onions). They were disappointed, there was a little bit of meat, small amount of Fritos, cheese and onions and a whole lot of beans. Speaking of the beans, they were not that good, in fact this is Pappy's Achilles heel. Their sides are not that good. Beans tasted can-like with a bit of hot sauce added, cole slaw was oily, corn was mushy and applesauce was fresh out the jar. And now I can say I prefer Bogart's. The meats were similar between the two, however the sides at Bogart's completes the whole package.
