“Nice Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

Stayed at the Stoney Creek Inn the night before the STP 400 at the Kansas Speedway. Very nice place with a nice hunting lodge them. Rooms were clean, beds were comfy, they had an awesome pool, and a nice little bar off of the lobby. Lots of places to eat within a short drive and close to the mall. Took a look at Missouri Western's campus, it was impressive. Athletic fields looked very nice and the indoor football facility is awesome.

My husband and I stayed in the the King Suite with a balcony. The view from our room was beautiful overlooking the "pond" and pool. Everything was well kept and the front staff service was knowledgeable and friendly--great first impression. It's right off the interstate but not noisy. If you are looking to shop and eat at great restaurants, you can not find a better location. Although, we didn't use the indoor/outdoor pool, it was huge. (For those with small children, the vast majority of the pool is 3 ft or under making it great for families.) I plan on coming back.

Room Tip: Pay the extra few bucks for the balcony room, and then you know you are guaranteed a second floor ro...

My family was down in St. Joe for a softball tournament over the weekend & stayed Friday/Sat nights.. This is a very nice hotel with some good amenities, such as the rooms overall (size was good, nice & clean) & indoor/outdoor pool was a big hit w/the kids!! That said, per some earlier reviews, the breakfast could stand for some better variety such as eggs/meat at least most days. Overall, a good place that could be really good with just a few more touch-ups...

Overall, I like the place. We were in town for a family event, and booked five rooms. The suite was great for family gatherings. Rooms were clean, although lacking enough lighting. As others have mentioned, busy place on the weekends. However, the rooms seemed insulated enough to keep out the noise. Wi-Fi didn't work in the suite, but you can hard-wire with decent download speeds. There aren't a lot of choices in St. Joe, and a Stoney Creek is a little pricey, but I would return.

A stay at the Stoney Creek was a refreshing change from cookie cutter hotels. The woodsy decor and the friendly staff made it a very comfortable and relaxing stay for my family.

The highlight was the pool and hot tub. The pool is indoor/outdoor and shallow (good for younger kiddos). The hot tub is very large and inviting. There's even a tv in the pool area....great large area for families and groups to hang out.

Great location close to restaurants.

The property was very clean!

What would I change or improve? Breakfast...more hot items and selection for breakfast.

Room Tip: Request the top floor to avoid overhead noise...and not near the pool.

The decor has a 1950s lodge-like appearance, which is cute for kids, though not very professional for business clients. The room itself was clean but extremely basic. No closet, although a few hangars are on a bar. The hotel is supposed to be 100% smoke-free, but a couple of times, a heavy smoke lingered in the halls. The velour blanket on the bed had cigarette holes.

It feels like the room was recently renovated, but several minor things could have been made much better. Dark carpeting in a hotel always worries me because I have no idea how clean it is. The lighting was very inadequate, and combined with the dark carpet, made looking into a suitcase at night rather difficult. The desk chair had padding that did not cover the legs, which made sitting uncomfortable until you sad in a fairly rigid position. The only switch for the bathroom light was connected to a rather noisy fan. It's preferable to have a separate switch, so that it's not so noisy when just using the sink for men shaving or women applying make-up. Room size for a king was adequate -- neither ultra cramped nor roomy.

Breakfast was very basic with oatmeal, lots of white breads, yogurt, oranges and apples, and some kind of meat and gravy.

Two huge improvements could be made: cover up all bedding that will not be washed between guests. The blanket is exposed rather than being enclosed in a washable covering. The second thing would be to buy new towels, because they were extremely thin. The bathmat was nearly as thin as the bed sheets.

Best aspect of this hotel is that it is a basic, clean hotel for a decent price.
