This was our 2nd time staying at St. Charles, Country Inn and Suites. Once again it was seriously disappointing.
"Charm" as depicted by the age of the hotel, doesn't, for me, include the fact that there are NO ventilation fans in the bathroom. Thus, a stinky bathroom greeting you at the door to hall (if someone's been in there 1st, and my husband was after a long drive) and a potentially steamy mess in the morning were disappointing.
However, the steamy mess didn't happen as there was NO hot water in the morning! The desk simply said, "The system is not working". BLAH!
Our 1st stay (months ago) we were rounded out into the cold weather in the middle of the night due to a fire alarm.....twice! What were we told? The "system" was broken and the elevators were sending out an alarm due to overheating cables, again in the middle of the night (2-3 a.m.)! All of us shivering in the dark and cold wondered, Who was using the elevators? And, indeed, no one was.
This time NO hot water...."The system is broken...." again.
Breakfast was okay, except I was disheartened by the really, really young woman (girl) who looked to be about 12, cleaning up. I seriously do not believe she was of the appropriate age to be working so hard. She was the only one I saw serving at the breakfast buffet, and working hard.
I like the location. I like the parking potential. And that's it. Never again.
Stay elsewhere, that's my tip.
