“Great hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

My wife and I stayed here for three nights. There was a sheriffs convention going on, so plenty of safety. Didn't have to worry about anything bad happening. The free breakfast buffet was great. The made to order line didn't seem to long. The lines moved quickly so waiting was never a problem. When we did have to wait, it didn't bother us because the fresh hot food cooked to order in front of you was worth the wait. Very delicious. The complimentary cocktails in the evening were great. Never been to a hotel that gave free drinks.
We went to the spa for a couples bliss. The spa staff was so friendly. Liked the fact my wife and I could go into the same locker room to change into the robes. Then we got to go soak in the jacuzzi tub. That was great. After the soaking in the tub we got the couples massage. That was the greatest thing ever. We felt so relaxed afterwards. After the massage they let us sit in pretty comfortable chairs and enjoy glasses of water that had lemons and oranges as well as enjoying some snacks. After we got dressed, I treated my wife to a pedicure. The staff at the spa was so friendly and professional. If you stay at this hotel we definitely suggest checking out the spa. Make sure you make reservations for the spa. They do accept walk ins but I'd suggest making reservation because they may already be to busy for a walk in. The spa is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Our room was up on the 11th floor. Never had to long to wait for elevators. We booked a king size suite but the bed didn't really feel like a king size bed. We have a king bed at home and the bed in our suite felt smaller. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Hard to get a good nights sleep. Spend as much money as we did on this hotel we kind of expected better beds.
We ordered room service one night for dinner. Oh my the food was absolutely amazing! Best food we have had. I ordered the salmon. My wife ordered the Chicken Marsala. The wait from the time we ordered the food to the time they came to our suite was not very long. Only had to wait about twenty minutes, but I would wait an hour for the food. It was that good! I did think $3.50 was to much for a wine glass filled with milk. Next time I think I'll just take a carton of milk when we have breakfast in the morning and stick it in the fridge. The prices of the food was the same as if you order from the Cypress Grill on the main floor but they charge a delivery fee. A small price to pay for staying in the room for dinner.
When we checked in we got mixed answers about the pool. I'm allergic to chlorine and when I asked if the pool was saltwater or chlorine I got two different answers. Of the two ladies at the front desk, one said it was chlorine and the other said it was saltwater. I didn't want to take the risk so we stayed away from the pool.
All in all we were 95% satisfied with our stay. The only con was the small "king" sized bed that was very uncomfortable.

St. Charles, Missouri is a wonderful. historic town to visit and especially when you can stay in the Embassy Suites. My husband and I were there for a three day vacation with three of our grandchildren ages 10, 8 and 8 and we all loved the hotel. The entry is spacious and actuallyl almost breath talking! there was no line at check-in and so the process was quick and service was friendly and professional. The breakfast and swimming pool were the grandkid's favorites. The breakfast area was busy and there was a long line to get a made to order omelette. But we discovered that you didn't have to stand in that line to go through the buffet. We were able to get eggs, ham, biscuits, gravey, fruit, cereal, juice, coffee, yogurt, pastries, toast, french toast- almost anything without waiting in a line. The kids went swimming every day. The pool was large enough to accomodate everyone and was very clean. There was an adequate supply of pool towels and a hotel employee would come by intermittantly to see that "all was well" at the pool. The suite worked out perfectly in that the three girls slept on the pull out sofa. We asked for extra blankets and were promptly provided what we asked for. The room was very clean and spacious with a wonderful king sized bed. Although the hotel was "sold out" - the rooms were quiet - lots of people but no noise. There was a family reunion with about 150 family members. We spoke with several of them as they were wearing T-Shirts identifying themselves. You could tell they were loving their experience and they confirmed that when we asked. IT was wonderful knowing that after a long hot day visiting sites in St. Charles and St, Louis that we would come back to a clean, restful hotel. Embassy Suites St. Charles was beautiful, clean, had friendly service, and all amenities - loved it!

The hotel itself was nice; however, the beds are small! My husband and I could not sleep comfortably on the "queen" or "full" bed (whatever size they are supposed to be) and we are not obese or above average in size. The hotel also lists evening food with their free drinks. The food is snacks only, so don't plan on that being your evening meal.

Diamond Hilton member so I know what to expect from Hilton properties and it isn't this - rooms are good; biker convention isn't the problem actually - the problem is the elevators - do NOT stay at this hotel if you can't get a room on a lower floor - three elevators service the whole building and two are down as I write - 15 to 20 minute wait every time you change floors - this has been going on for 2 days - and the answer when the front desk is called is that service has been called - for two days! Get it together.

Room Tip: Lower floors are walkable

Tim L, General Manager at Embassy Suites Hotel St. Louis/St. Charles, responded to this review, July 26, 2014
We apologize for the major inconvenience that was caused while two of our three elevators were out of service. Our staff worked with guests to utilize our service elevator, stairs and the single working guest elevator to expedite the transport of people to their desired locations. This was an isolated incident which has not occurred in the nine years we have been open.

Each of the two elevators had a different issue that caused it to be out of service and unfortunately this situation started when we were at peak capacity. We were able to have our service technicians arrive promptly to address this concern. Unfortunately, the repairs were time consuming. The first elevator was repaired late in the evening that it went down. Unfortunately, the second elevator required us to ship a computer board in to make it operational. This elevator took us a day and a half to repair.

Safety of our guests is a top priority as is the maintenance of all of our major equipment. We perform regular preventative maintenance and inspections on the elevators with a certified KONE technician and are in compliance with federal, state, and local regluations.

Nothing but thumbs up for this facility. They have a very nice cook-to-order breakfast (get there early to avoid a long line!), and a "Manager's Reception" in the evening which includes beer on tap, wine, and well drinks--all for free. The hotel shuttle is hit-and-miss (long waits for pick-up, both at the hotel and from wherever you're waiting). They're located close to "Historic St. Charles" (a three minute drive) which is also a plus. The two-room suites have either two double beds or a king (no queens), so be prepared when booking.

So, I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel/spa and was pleased. The only reason they did not get a perfect score is because of the no. of staff always available, knowledge of the area and friendliness. Otherwise the hotel was up to date and very clean. The room size was very good. Beds were comfortable. The location was about average. Restaurants were not within walking distance in my opinion but definitely driveable. The décor is on point with Embassy Suites. I did not have the opportunity to visit the space this trip. However, overall my experience was very good and I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for corner room/suite. They are larger.
