“Sleepless Weekend in St.Louis”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

Being familiar with St.Louis and the city traffic, we elected to stay at this Residence Inn with our small dog and to be near our weekend activities. The place is well-kept and adjacent to the Richmond Heights Amtrak station as well as the metro bus stop. It is a short distance to a really nice area of small shops and restaurants but definitely not walkable. When we checked in, the receptionists were too busy with each other and one phone to acknowledge us (hospitality training?). It was after 5:00 PM on Thursday and we had two room choices--one on the ground floor and one on the second floor near the highway. We chose the latter for privacy. Never stay there again! The air conditioner is as booming as the traffic.

Room Tip: Stay away from the freeway, but one still contends with the AC. The location is good for shopping and...

I have not had much luck with Residence Inns in the past. Usually cheaply built and run down.
This place was cheaply built, but it has been renovated and it is being kept up very well.
I was pleasantly surprised when I stayed here on my last trip to St. Louis.
I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

This property was a pleasant surprise close to the Homewood Suites which could not accommodate us at 11PM despite a guaranteed reservation (oversold). Front desk employee was very nice, quickly making arrangements and providing necessary information. Apartment style accommodations(4 p/bldg) with great kitchens - full frig/4burner stove & oven, microwave, cabinets with dishes, coffeemaker, toaster. Full desk with multiple electronic outlets, full sofa bed, plasma tv, comfy king bed, large bathroom with separate tub/shower & toilet, full length mirror, 2 closets. (hair dryer stored under the sink, iron & iron board in closet with additional bedding for sofabed. Outdoor pool, fitness area and breakfast area located in separate bldg with front desk. Free breakfast was good - juices, eggs, sausage, brkf sandwiches, make your own waffles, fruit, yogurt, bagels, muffins, toast, cereal, oatmeal, granola. Plenty of seating with large screen tv. Hotel is located near metro line, Galleria Mall, Crate & Barrel, Target, Nordstrom Rack and many more. close to various restaurants from fast food to IHOP, Maggianos and more. Easy access from highway (10min or less to Wash Univ, St. Louis Univ, and hospitals), convenient to Forest Park area, downtown STL, Busch Stadium. I would definately stay here again!

older residence inn property with outdoor entrances. I asked for a first floor otherwise climbing stairs with suitcases would have been unpleasant. The rooms were nicely renovated, wish my kitchen at home was this nice. location was a little disappointing. It was next to the mall but there was a highway between the hotel and the mall.
Just meant a longer walk but at night it didn't feel very safe.
Being separate buildings was not so good for going to the lobby for coffee - I just skipped the breakfast. I will ask from now on if it's a first generation residence inn and if so can I get a 1st floor room.

Room Tip: since you have to walk up stairs if you get a 2nd floor room.

Hello abst14,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel, and thank you for staying with us. We are glad that you enjoyed our newly renovated rooms and our fully equiped kitchen. We are sorry that the mall was not as close as you had hoped . It is 2 blocks from the hotel and we are confident in saying that the area is very safe and secure. Thank you again for staying with us and with Marriott Hotels.

I've stayed at this Residence Inn a few times now. The Residence Inn is Marriott's extended stay product, and is modeled after an apartment complex. And it looks like there are many people who do live there longer term.

As far as staying there as a hotel guest, the Residence Inn has been a pretty good experience, especially when I've wanted to stay in a hotel that is on the quieter side. When I stay in indoor hotels with hallways, there will always be those inconsiderate guests that think they are the only people in the hotel and shout at the top of their lungs all night and run back and forth in the hallways, slamming doors and playing "musical rooms." Not at Residence Inn. No hallways, no *$%&-ups ruining your night of rest.

Rooms are usually clean. I did have a couple of instances--toilet not cleaned from previous guest, glass used by maid and left on counter, sheet looking ratty--but usually my room has been clean. Have seen a couple of small bugs in the rooms. They could use a spray.

Front desk--some are nice, and a couple couldn't give a %&*$.

Breakfast--not the best, but they do have cereal dispensers. Apple juice tastes like someone's dirty socks, for some odd reason. All-day coffee is usually cold. Step it up, Residence Inn. Get new pots that keep the coffee warm.

Location is fabulous. Near the Galleria Mall and The Boulevard. Also next to a metrolink station, so you really don't need a car while you are in St. Louis, unless you had to go somewhere that isn't on the line or you have to go somewhere at night...when the freaks come out.

Stay here if you want quiet, a good location, or need somewhere to stay for a while (if you don't mind a bug or two).

Hello Lisa,

Thank you so much for staying at our Residence Inn and for taking the time to review our hotel. I have passed along your comments about the cleanliness issues you have noticed and I can promise that those things are taken care of. Also I apologize that you do not enjoy our apple juice. I can assure you that we use the same Minute Maid apple juice that the other 500 Residence Inn hotels in North America use, but I will make sure our machine is checked for proper functionality.

Once again thank you so much for staying at Marriott Hotels and we hope to see you again sometime.

The furnishings are somewhat more upscale in this Residence Inn. Our studio “suite” was large and had a real fireplace and sofa bed. The TV had 64 channels of programming. The kitchen had a full-size refrigerator, 4-burner range with oven, large microwave, dishwasher, toaster, big coffee maker, its own sink and plates, glasses and cups. There were no pots and pans. Separating the kitchen from the living room was a desk with armchair. The desk was well laid out with cubbies for stashing keys, etc., a wired network cable, three electricity outlets and good lighting. We didn’t use the wired broadband but the wireless worked well. There were no extra chairs if you wanted to seat other people around the desk for a meal and no in-room safe. There were 3 closets – a coat closet next to the entry door and two closets in the passageway between the bed and bathroom. The bathroom was divided into an area open to the bed with sink and long granite counter (no drawers) and full-length mirror, and a separate room with door containing the bathtub/shower and toilet. Breakfast was pretty standard and there seemed to be sufficient parking next to each building. A Metrolink light rail station is about a block away and the Galleria mall is on the other side of the freeway with a Nordstroms, Macy’s and Dillards.

Room Tip: If you want a really quiet location ask to be on the back side which fronts a quiet, tree-lined resi...

Stayed 1 night with teenage son on college tour. Hotel is about 8 minutes by car to WashU. We stayed in 1122, which was 2 beds and 2 baths. Great space!!! Complex is older apartment style, but rooms were fresh, very clean, excellent condition. Breakfast was ready promptly at 6am. Great spot.

GPS may take you wrong way on 1 way Antler to get there. If that happens, go 1 more block to Galleria and turn right. Plenty of parking. Food options a few minutes away, although most are chain restaurants that you would find in any suburban area.

This was perfect for us. Lots of space, great shape, smiling faces.
