“Delicious gourmet food, great view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

We stumbled upon this place for lunch, and our meal was delicious, quick, and inexpensive. It is just a short drive from Bella Vista. We can't wait to go back and try dinner, which looks delicious.

“Gourmet food with diner service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

The food was gourmet (at least for southwest Missouri). The restaurant is situated on the Little Sugar Creek with a rushing waterfall just below the full wall of picture windows. They have a full bar but the service was very slow. Again, the food was excellent with an appealing and varied menu. As with the drinks, our dinner was slow to arrive. When complaining to the waitress, she blamed the kitchen, stating that she couldn't bring us something that wasn't ready. Besides hiring an additional server for busy evenings I would recommend they consider revising the menu to offer a salad course with all meals, thus providing the guest a course to munch on while the chef does his magic in the kitchen. We will return for the ambiance and food, but it could be so much better with a few tweaks.

“Arrogant Management? Staff training?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

Just returned home from dinner with friends at Haven 55. Though my husband and I had tried lunch there several weeks ago, and found it satisfactory, tonight was to be a great dinner with friends who had not been there at all-- a first time evening/dinner experience for us all at this restaurant. We had called ahead for this Saturday, early evening, reservation for a window table overlooking the water (a pretty creek runs along the east side). Tables are set with linen in the evening, and the place has pretty nice ambience for a little place tucked in an out-of-the-way spot in Pineville, MO! From the outside appearance you might decide to think twice about it.......and unfortunately, after tonight we will have to think more than twice about returning. What a shame.

It's a small place. We were seated quickly by the hostess and the server presented menus and asked what we'd like to drink. The menu is limited, but offers enough choices of beef, pork, chicken, fish to make reasonable selections. A large blackboard lists the sides one can choose from. The server returned quickly to bring our water and ask if we were ready to order. She was willing to answer questions we had, and made changes with a smile when a couple of us changed our choice of sides. No problems at this point.

Each of the four of us had a side salad, nicely presented with field greens, tomato, and dressings on the side: thousand island, blue cheese, balsamic vinaigrette...........all very good, perhaps all made in-house? The balsamic was delicious and unique, having an almost whipped quality. A basket of four white dinner rolls was brought to the table shortly thereafter. The server brought a carafe of ice water to leave at the table, as we needed our glasses refilled regularly......saving her some trips to refill.

For entrees, one chose the salmon, nicely presented in paper tied with string and a side of roasted or sautéed asparagus. It was fine, though the salmon was somewhat dry, so perhaps slightly overcooked. The remaining three chose the 16 oz strip steak (two of us shared one steak but each had our own sides, the other person had the whole steak). One steak was ordered medium well (the menu warns that any steak ordered more done than medium may not be as tender......okay, we get that), and the other was ordered medium rare. These are priced at $24 on the menu! When the server returned to ask how the food was, my husband commented that the steak was tough......not overdone.....just that it was a tough piece of meat. She seemed to go tell the chef, but did not return to us with any sort of comment, until later when we'd finished eating and my husband asked her directly what the chef had said. "Oh, you ordered it medium well so that's why it's not tender", she said. Then our friend who had also ordered the steak, but ordered it medium-rare immediately added that "No", his steak was very tough as well, and the chef should talk to his supplier. The steaks were cooked just as we had all ordered, but it was definitely the meat itself that was just plain tough. That was disappointing enough, but to have absolutely no response or apology from the chef, and no offer of a discount or some recompense was even more distressing. What is the usual reasonable response from the chef when this happens? surely not ignoring the customer.

Please use this review and others you find at other sites (Urban Spoon) to find a balanced review of this restaurant............as they are not all as glowing as you find here. We will not be going back, and our friends won't either. Word of mouth travels fast, and there are many restaurants in NW Arkansas, a stone's throw from Pineville, to choose from where there is very good service, food, and responsive staff and management. Sometimes it's all about the food choices, but tonight it was about the attitude of the management when they ignored our comments.

“Hidden Gem off the beaten path”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

We stopped in on a Wednesday night after bowling in Pineville, MO. This casually elegant restaurant backs up to a pretty creek and has a great view. We stumbled upon Prime Rib night so the couple with me split the Prime Rib and were very happy with it. There is a split charge but you do get something in return, each person got to select their 2 sides. There was plenty of delicious Prime Rib for them both. I enjoyed the Cedar Plank Salmon and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked with a wonderful sauce. I had a twice baked potato which came out standing up instead of 2 halves laying on the side. They cut the bottom off. hollowed it out and stuffed it; delicious. The green beans were fresh and crisp; cooked just right. No room for dessert but our fellow diners were raving about it. Very attentive service. We will be back soon.
