We checked in very late, or we probably would never have stayed. The place smells like a smoky nursing home. We had a non-smoking room but smoke from other rooms came in vents. The bathroom was smelly and dirty, and there was hair in all the drawers. We jumped ship the next morning, even though we had to scramble for another hotel.

This is a review, more of an overview of different hotels/motels. My wife and I stayed at the La Quinta North Kansas City last weekend and found it to be a great value. It was clean and comfortable and had free breakfast (waffles, Juice, cereal, etc.) The room was $59.00 plus tax and it was a great value. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a palace, but we didn't pay for a palace. I have stayed at all three of the major Casino hotels within a 10-mile radius of the La Quinta and they are some of the nicest rooms I have ever stayed in, but it was a Saturday night and the casino hotels go for well over $200.00 on a Saturday night with no discounts for card holders. We went out for dinner, then over to one of the casinos and got back to the La Quinta at 11:30 pm and left the next morning at 8:30 am not spending much time in our clean, King-sized bed room. We had a microwave and a refrigerator and the T.V. got a very good picture. This is not a fancy hotel, the bathroom is very small (but clean) and the walls are thin making it a little noisier than most. I have paid more and gotten less, will stay there again if in town on a Sat. night.

Room Tip: Excellent location, great restaurants within 10 minutes, rooms were a little noisy. However, the he...

It was an OK stay. I wouldn't call it super clean, but not filthy either. It was at best 'OK'. The rooms the bathroom is super small and very little water pressure is probably the worst part. The location is decent, it's about $40 cheaper than staying at Harrah's and less than 5 minutes from there. Not a tone in the area for food other than fast food and a Denny's but if you go out about another 15 minutes you have a few more options.

For a $70 room it's what you would expect. If they would do some super deep cleaning, kill the smoke smell in the halls and elevators it would gain an extra star/dot from me in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Go to the upper floor, walls are thin and so are ceiling, so if you go to the top you might save you...

We have stayed at this place 3 times now. This last time was the best visit. The staff was helpful as they have been in the past. This time, however, the place is more La Quinta "lite" than "real" La Quinta. Yes, there is a breakfast, but it is only 3 kinds of cereal, a waffle, yogurt, one kind of muffin, etc. There is no newspaper--not even one for the whole hotel. There is no place to print a boarding pass. All of these missing amenities are logical when you consider the price for a stay is the lowest I've ever seen for a La Quinta. All was clean. All was comfortable. The place was quiet. If you just want a place to sleep and clean up, and Raisin Bran is a good breakfast for you, this is your place. It works for us.

I have stayed here twice and really enjoy my stay here. The first time I stayed, I had been on the road for 13-14 hours and felt like...well you know. I approached the front desk and the clerk let out such a nice and warm "Welcome to La Quinta."

The rooms are a bit small, which is fine with me. All me and my dogs do is eat and go to sleep. More importantly, they are nice and clean, have a big soft comfy bed and an updated TV. Hey, let's face it. TV is like oxygen when you're stuck in a motel room far from home. That is unless you love your Netflix streaming but I digress...

The hotel is right off of 35W and has a Denny's, neighborhood bar, and 3 fast food restaurants all right next door to the parking lot. Delivery is a challenge. The one Chinese restaurant that does is really hideous. There is an Indian restaurant that delivers but their delivery driver was sick when I tried to place an order for delivery.

This is an older building but they must have great housekeepers because the entire building feels clean and fresh. This hotel is definitely on my rotation!

Room Tip: The vending machines are on each floor to the left of the hallway if you are facing the building.
