“Lovely spot to take a break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

A lovely little drop of point for many a local in need of summertime refreshment; often a hive of activity on a sunny day with cyclists, walkers, young families, day trippers and locals in need of refreshment and a moment to escape. Set in farmland it's an ideal place to take a little break. for the specialist ice cream and other light refreshments.

“Been a regular here since I was a nipper!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

Ok so it's not that long ago that I was a nipper, but we have been regular customers here for probably 20 years now!

The food is tasty, the ice cream is the best ice cream I have ever tasted - hence why it is retailed in places such as Harrods. I love the fact that the ice cream actually tastes like it contains cream and is rich in taste, unlike so many brands you get which actually don't have to put ANY dairy in their ice cream unless it states 'dairy ice cream' -- this is a fact if you look it up.

The only reason why I wouldn't give 5 stars when I would have done previously, is that costs seem to have dramatically risen over the past few years. Obviously this isn't a problem for Thaymar as they always seem to be busy, but there will be quieter times as with every business and that's when I tend to eat out, so a little consideration for the fact that people are feeling the pinch wouldn't go amiss, and would help generate more income during quieter times.

One of our favourites was also taken off the menu and sadly hasn't returned - we hope to see the 'lemon chicken' come back soon. My OH loved it and it was the only reason he got excited about going to Thaymar.

Having said that, each time I go flying at Gamston I pick up some ice cream which you can take home and enjoy at your leisure.... the clotted cream vanilla is heavenly.

Overall, this surpasses most local food and should be visited.

“You will love it !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Called in here with a couple of friends for a coffee and was pleasantly suprised ar how nice the tea rooms are. The service was excellent as was the menu choice, everything from a toasted tea cake to salads, quiches and daily specials. As well as the tea room itself there is a well stocked shop with lots of lovely goodies to choose from. There is a big selection of the Thaymar ice cream to purchase as well as freezers stocked with delicious lasagne, curries, pies etc. The setting is very peaceful with views over fields, it had been snowing just before we arrived so it all looked very picturesque. Will certainly visit again and would recommend to anyone wanting a snack/meal is nice clean environment with the bonus of good service.

“Organic & Local farm restaurant with own Ice Creams”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

A homely feel gives this little farm restaurant a relaxed feel. Home cooked food, fresh ingredients and a superb range of homemade ice creams make it a bit special too. About 1 mile from the A1 by Gamston Airport, about 5 miles from Sherwood Forest & Edwinstowe.
