“Good service ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I needed a place to crash overnight from the airport. They had a free shuttle. Mike the driver was very pleasant and prompt when I called. The hotel is being renovated. The pool is outside so that's seasonal. My room was good size but was tired, it's not redone yet. Breakfast gals were pleasant and chatty. Workers seemed happy ... They gave me a fair deal. Dave and busters was right next door and that's a good reason to call this a great quick stop. If you're looking for a weekly rental id pass on this one for now .. Light on outlets and no fridge. But they have good cable. I did not miss my games :)

No towels at the pool area. Staff shut down the breakfast right at 10AM, even with a line of customers still wanting to eat (the pancake machine was down 2 of the 3 days we stayed). Fire alarm went off at 8 AM one morning, no explanation, but was off in about 30 seconds. Would have like tables to be wiped down more often. High chairs needed attention. There is a ton of goose poop around the area due to the pond behind the hotel (watch where you step). No special welcome for our dogs (should have received a "treat" as a guest). An elevator was down majority of weekend, so going up or down took some time (and staff even said that it was "fixed" the day before). The hotel is undergoing some renovations; lobby looks great, but rooms were wore down. The hotel staff was nice to have mailed us a forgotten item from our room after the trip. We had one major downside... the best part of our trip to St. Louis was coming home with bed bugs. We were wondering why we had so many bites and couldn't figure it out until 2 1/2 months later when a bed bug went looking to eat. This was the only place we stayed at all summer besides grandma and our own home! So thanks Holiday Inn Express for the "inexpensive" weekend trip... laundry, drying all cloth items, new pillows/linens/bed bug devices, buying trash bags for everything to go in (and a storage unit because cloth shouldn't be there when pest control bombs the place), professional pest control, time off work, extra babysitters (children couldn't be around chemicals), replacing the luggage and pack-n-play we took to the hotel (how else did they hitch a ride to our home?), boarding the dogs during treatment... spent more time and money on cleaning up the mess than the whole weekend in STL! Won't stay here again.

Room Tip: Check the mattresses and box springs for bed bugs before you stay or put your luggage anywhere.

Hotel under a remodel. Lots of issues with paint smell. Room was not turned down while we were gone. We had to go searching for fresh towels for our second night. To top things off, the fire alarm went off at 3am. Stood out in the parking lot with other angry patrons waiting for the go ahead to go back to bed. We were staying here for a hockey tournament and our team has an 8:30am game. There was no fire. The receipt for my stay was under my door before 3am, ironically. We will not be staying here again when we come back next year.

Dear Shawn M,

Thank you for staying with us. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay. We are nearly finished with our renovation and the hotel is going to look great once it is complete. We do apologize for the alarm going off. That was out of our control and we wish it did not happen. We know how important a great night rest was for you the night before your hockey game and we are sorry the alarm prevented that from happening. I can promise you it is a very rare occurrence and I hope you will give us another shot next time you are in St. Louis.

Thanks,

John Van Cleave

We only spent about six hours there because of our early flight, as soon as I got in bed I started itching..figured it was just the detergent or softener used for the sheets. I woke up with multiple bites and they travelled with me on vacation. Googled what bed bug bites look like and that's definitely what it is!!

I always use this hotel for a park-n-fly! Breakfast is great, staff is friendly, service is wonderful, and the location is hard to beat, as it is further from the airport so you don't have to fight the traffic once they take you back to your car. Got a newly remodeled suite and was very happy with the updates they are doing.

Hotel was very nice and clean even though they are remodeling! When we checked in we were greeted by Sandy and she was very nice and friendly! Our room wasn't ready cause we got there early so she upgraded us to the top floor! After we got in the room we noticed a smoke smell so they gave us another room and kept apologizing for it! That night they had a manager's welcome which was very nice! Debbie was the hostess and she was so friendly and nice! They had beer, wine and soda and they had chicken wings and chicken salad! It was a really nice event! The next morning breakfast was very good and the hostess, which I didn't get her name was very nice and came around to see if we needed anything! This hotel will be a five star when it is done! The workers are already five+ stars!!!!

When we checked in early we were greeted by Sandy who was very friendly and helpful. We were early so she got us a different room then what we were going to have. They are under renovation at this time so half of the rooms are not ready. The room she gave us was in need of some more upgrades. It is a non-smoking hotel but the room reeked of cigarette smoke. I turned the air on and we left for a few hours. Upon returning it was still really bad.

Went down and - Ashely was on duty so she gave us a different room immediately and appolized for the room issue. No refrigerator in the second room but no smoke smell.

They had a manager's reception from 5:30pm till 6:30pm which was very good. Wine, beer, and snacks. Was not expecting it. Debbie was in charge and did a great job.

Breakfast was good no issues. Lady in charge of breakfast checked on us to make sure all was good.

I think when they get done with the remodel work it could be a 5 star

Room Tip: Make sure they are completed as far as remolding of the room
