“Food was great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

We had 10 in our party and The Duck provided great food and service. Our waitress, Jessi P. was attentive and very informative as our large group ordered and ask questions about the food choices. She was fun. Very reasonable price per person if you deduct the cost of the wine and liquor from the food. We had great appetizers and a wide variety of entrees. Steaks, lamb chops, chicken, sea bass, pork chop and salmon all were very good and prepared correctly. Nice to find a place on the lake that is not pub food! If you are at the lake cruise on over and try it. You will like it!

We enjoyed hosting your group, and I’m glad Jessi took good care of you – thank you for acknowledging her. You’ve hit on one of our keys to success: our servers are professionals, and several of them have been with us a number of years. They know their stuff, and know how to take care of guests. We’ve had some great boating weather, too, and our all-concrete dock and wavebreak system affectionately known as “Duck Harbor” is getting a lot of traffic!

“Fabulous dinner at The Duck”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

Again The Duck does not disappoint . . . what an incredible meal and view. We brought our IL friends here (we're full-time Lake residents), we all ordered something different and couldn't decide what was best -- it was ALL so wonderful. Sea bass, veal marsala, coconut shrimp and their signature duck breast. Everything was perfect, along with great table service and owner Donna's usual professional and warm reception. We'll be back, hopefully a couple times before the summer/fall season ends!

And the weather was perfect, wasn’t it? As many years as we’ve been hosting guests at The Duck, Donna and I never get tired of the sunsets….and neither do our guests. We’re looking forward to a great fall, so be sure to schedule in a visit to The Duck!

“Best Waterfront Fine Dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

This lovely boutique restaurant is located on the 4 mile marker of beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. The unique feature of this little gem is that it is accessible by both car and water, with boat slips to accommodate even the largest of boats (50-55' cruisers)! I would recommend reservations as seating outside (weather permitting) is filled quickly because of the STUNNING SUNSETS!

Their menu offers a wide variety of choices, from fresh seafood to mouth watering steaks, and pasta! Entrees include a delicious homemade soup or salad (with 3 varieties of lettuce), seasonal vegetable, and a choice of starch. My favorites are their Tilapia Picatta, Chipotle Cicken, and the tender Filet! Their wine list is extensive, winning Wine Spectator awards. You may bring your own wine, however, they ask that the wine you bring not be on their wine list...and a cork fee is charged.

The dessert menu is the perfect end to a perfect meal! Homemade key lime pie, creme brûlée' , and my favorite bananas Foster! Small enough to eat alone. Yet enough to share!

The service is impeccable with servers that know how to give you a fine dining experience. You re not rushed, but they pay attention, making certain that you are not left alone or wanting for anything.

Plan on spending 1 1/2 to 2 hours for your dining experience! It's a lovely evening in a cozy atmosphere! White table cloths, candles, soft music, and perfectly prepared feast,

Children are welcome but the lengthy dining experience may not lend itself to small children who can't wait too long for meals! Of course they were happy to bring children's meals to the table ahead of the adult entrees, but little ones still were waiting while parents were eating.

Overall, it is a beautiful restaurant situated lakeside, with great food, service, and atmosphere. A MUST while you are visiting Lake of the Ozarks!

It was nice seeing you and your husband again. We try to get everything right, and as you pointed out the sunsets cannot be beat anywhere at the Lake of the Ozarks. You also pointed to our great desserts. Chef Lynn, who is in early in the morning to prep salads, desserts, dressings and more, has been making the most out of the summer harvest. Her peach shortcake has been a real winner and she’s going to make something great out of them while the bounty lasts. Then she’ll look for something else.

Looking forward to seeing you again soon!

“Gourmet Dinner in the Ozarks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

Food, service, and hospitality were all superb. The atmosphere is wonderful. Most of the tables, inside and out, have beautiful lake views. Many boats pull up to the dock to have dinner. It reminded me of Chesapeake Bay culture. The hostess and our waitress very very cordial and personable. You must make a reservation. This is a popular place with locals and tourists who enjoy fine dining. We tried the duck appetizer and enjoyed a superbly prepared filet. This was our 41st Anniversary dinner and the staff made it special for us. The trip from the parking area to the restaurant is a bit of an adventure. Lots of stairs and bridges. High heels might not be such a good idea. You are offered the opportunity to sample three white or red wines. They call this a "float."

It was nice meeting you...great pictures you took too! Yes, The Duck does have a bunch of steps down to the restaurant...I like to think of it as a leisurely walk in the woods! [We do have a little closer way to get in for those with mobility issues.] Glad you enjoyed one of our wine flights...three 2 oz samples. It is a great way try something new without making a commitment to a whole glass of something you might not care for. While we do not require reservations, we do recommend them as we get quite busy especially in the summer season and reservations help us ensure that you get the attention we'd like you to have. Whether you visit us or one of the other great venues in the future, thank you for visiting the Lake of the Ozarks. Gorgeous, isn't it?

“Hidden Treasure at the lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

The Duck is a great fine dining restaurant a good distance down Cherokee road off HH (Horseshoe Bend Parkway). It can also be reached from the water at the 4 mile marker.
The service was impeccable and the food was yummy. The view of the lake is wonderful!
As with many places at the lake, there are many steps down to The Duck from it's parking lot. I suggest that you call first to ask about accessibility if the steps are a concern. There may be a way to drive down for a drop off?
Overall a great dining experience!

Summer is finally getting here, and I agree, the view from our deck is terrific...I never get tired of those sunsets. Thanks too for pointing out one of the potential obstacles down here with all the hills. Since we are right on the water we do have a number of steps down from our parking lot. While some see it as a delightful stroll through the trees, other with mobility problems do have difficulties. But you are also correct that we do have a drive that comes down toward the back of the building. While we can't get you all the way down, we can make it better and I often assist guests with bringing their car down. So, if you have issues with steps, give us a call and let us know, and I'll personally meet you in our drive and guide you in. I'll also turn your car around so you'll be headed the right direction after dinner!
