Very friendly atmosphere, staff willing to help. The beds were very comfortable and each room had a microwave and mini fridge. Fun indoor pool for kids. Any train enthusasist will want to come here often.

Last June I blocked rooms at the Depot Inn for my daughter's wedding. The hotel was very accommodating in that we were unsure of the number of rooms we would need until closer to the date. They let us block all of the rooms and allowed us 2 weeks prior to the date to get rooms reserved. Our guests (most were from out of town) were so impressed with the comfortable yet elegant accommodations. The staff was eager to help with anything we needed and trust me.....we needed a lot! The bride and groom were so happy with their Victorian honeymoon suite. From the romantic fireplace to the in room Jacuzzi, the perfect set up for the honeymooners. LaPlata is a small town only 12 miles from Kirksville. Without hesitation, I would recommend the Depot Inn & Suites....the small town with Big Smiles!

The staff and personnel at this hotel is so friendly. The atmosphere is one that you look for at every hotel stay. My experience was great!

My most recent stay was May 26, 2008 on my way back to California after having a one-man photo show in Seymour, Indiana. I traveled on to Iowa to photograph Quilt Barns, and on to Mt. Rushmore. Previous to our stay at the Depot Inn and Suites, we toured and stayed one night in nearby Hannibal, MO. My wife liked the Depot Inn and Suites on this May visit, her first. I had raved about the place on my previous stays: 4/7/08 4/27/08 8/6/08 11/19/08 2/21/08 and 12/08/06. The Front Desk always greets me by name. They also pick up arriving guests on the Amtrak Southwest Chief, and deliver them back to the staiton as they leave. Closeby restaurant, Red Rooster, is good, but try Grandma's downtown for breakfast or lunch. The railroad overlook is unique, and in walking distance. They're always adding something new, like live TV of passing trains down at the BNSF tracks, see channel 43. They also have a webcam at the RR Depot Inn, and it's on channel 44 I believe. Beds are great, rooms are decorated on a much higher standard than any other Hotel or Motel I've been in. Crown molding in all rooms! Great towels, even fireplace in the suites! Not to mention the Jacuzzi tub in all suites. See why I rated it Excellent, it's like a home away from home!
