The Westin Crown Center is not a 5-star hotel. It's about a 3-star hotel. Only stay there if you get a fantastic rate (I stayed for a conference and only paid $115 - I can't imagine paying over $200/night).
It's very impressive upon check-in. The lobby is very nice, and the people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The hotel is showing some signs of wear - some of the hallways were looking shabby, and the trash by the elevator was always overflowing. My room had many small problems - two lightbulbs were out (one had been removed and not replaced), the sheets on the bed seemed dirty (maybe not USED, but not CLEAN, either), and there were crumbs and debris between the bed and bedside table that noone had bothered to clean. I ended up with an overabundance of towels, because I hung my towels on the door (they participate in the towel program where you can re-use your towels by hanging them up, thus reducing wasted water needed to wash them) and they continually gave me new towels anyway without removing the old towels! I must have had 12 towels by then end of my 4-day stay.
Anyway, the staff for the most part was nice, if not efficient. My one problem with Guest Services came when I needed to ask a question and the representative was on the phone. Not only did she not acknowledge that I was standing there, but she actually put her hand up to shield her face from me. If that's not avoidance, I don't know what is. I stood there for a few minutes (awkwardly, I must say) before I finally left without asking my question and she did not stop me.
I would have been upset at these things if I had paid full rates. I felt like I paid 3-star prices and received like service.
The fitness room is $5/day to use, although there is a nice heated indoor/outdoor pool that is free. The fitness room is very nice and modern with personal tv monitors at many machines. Bring your own earphones - you can check them out at the fitness desk, but who knows when they've been disinfected?
The hotel is attached to the Crown Center, which has a nice food court and shops - it's a bonus if you don't have a car to get around town.
