Book this hotel on Priceline for around $65 and you will be pleased. The bedding is the best and so comfortable. The location is good to the Plaza and the new Power and LIght District (really the place to be for bars, restaurants etc..) A nice tip for an upgrade upon registration goes a long way. We got the King Executive Suite, two rooms, great for entertaining. If you pay retail, you won't be as pleased. Go for the discount.

My wife and I stayed in KC during the Irish Fest. We got the $99/night rate for the entire stay.
I had never been to KC, but loved the Crown Center and, most of all, the Hyatt.
For the price, we got a 2 room suite and we were treated like royalty.
The tickets for the Irish Fest -- $20 per day -- were included in the nightly room rate.
Thank God for the spa and the pool at the hotel. I had to swim a mile every other day and run down to the downtown and back on the days I didn't swim, just to keep from putting on the pounds from the wonderful food.
Spectators Sports Bar was a regular for us inside the Hotel
Skies, the rotating rooftop restaurant is a must have experience.
You can walk between buildings through the climate controlled "Link"
Room was clean and well-appointed -- service was top notch.
If you are Irish or not, this is the place to go during Irish Fest.
Plenty of metro bus service all over the city to make this a carless vacation.
I am thoroughly spoiled, now.
KC is a great destination. An absolute blast!
Thank you Hyatt Crown Center.

I have stayed at this property over 10 times in the past year and absolutely love the beds here, but problems have been occurring more frequently of late.

On my last stay two weeks ago, they turned off the chilled water system used to provide cool air in the rooms, leaving only hot air pouring out which led to a very uncomfortable night. At least tonight, so far, they have left the system on. Problem tonight was that the comforter on the bed had a large red stain in the center of it that should have never passed the housekeeping checks. Drain in shower was also slow so you ended up standing in several inches of water by the time you were done. The housekeeping problems are really the only complaint I have about the property, the staff are all friendly and do what they can to make your stay a pleasant one. If only housekeeping would handle their part of the process, this would be a great hotel. That said, a few tips/updates for everyone:

The minibars have been removed from all rooms and nothing has replaced them as of yet. Some of the suites have old beat up mini-fridges currently. I wish they would have just removed the stock from the minibars and left them in the room so that the fridge side could be used by guests.
In my opinion, the Regency Club rooms are actually a step down from a normal room as they did not receive the renovations floors 38 and below received a few years ago. The bathrooms are very outdated and much of the furniture is worn/stained.
Corner rooms are the best choice as they cut down on noise from the hall, and with rooms ending in 19, have a larger bathroom. Rooms ending in 22 are suites, but do back the elevator shafts so if noise is a concern, you may want to stay away from those.

Overall, I love this hotel, I just wish housekeeping would step up and keep things as clean as they should be without having to be prompted.

We stayed one night for a romantic get away. We booked a Regency Club room, one King bed. These rooms are on the upper level and are nicer. We love the room, it was one of the cleanest rooms we've ever seen. Has a great view. The check in out out was fast. The bed and linens were amazing ! The only thing was the other people were a little noisy but you can't blame the hotel. We ate at the Skies and loved the view and food was great! The hotel and room smelled great, fresh and clean! which is very hard to come by. Loved the pastry and coffee at the Regency club. If you do book via the web site, don't use the auto check in, it gave us the wrong room, but was fixed with a call. Just check in and ask for a Regency Club room up-grade. Perfect! Hyatt you won us over.

We try to stay in B and B's usually, but when we travel as a family-we love the Hyatt Regency. We went to the Crown Center Hyatt for the third time recently and had a great stay. The beds are amazing and the rooms are clean and well appointed. We use the family plan where you can request adjoining rooms. My husband and I stay in one room (king bed) and the kids stay in the next room with a room that connects from the inside. The kids room has plenty of room and much needed privacy for both parties.
We get the AAA rate, and spend about $175.
It's extra to park. There is a pool (mostly outside) hot tub (inside) and a skywalk that connects you to the shops at Crown Center. It's a bit of a walk-but covered and safe. There are plenty of bars and resturants through the hotel and even more at Crown Center.
A great family stay!

My company budget normally precludes us from staying in places like the Hyatt. However, the convention registration for my trade show included lodging, and I was pretty excited.

So, here's the thing about the Hyatt Crown Center: it has the soul of a holiday inn. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the property, really. Nothing at all. But if you're expecting luxury, or something better than your average three star hotel, you're not going to find it here. The rooms aren't particularly large. The bath looks cramped and dated. The amenities are nice, but not great. (Though I swear the "white ginger" used to scent the soap and shampoo is actually "burnt plastic." But most others disagree with me.)

Kansas City isn't a high dollar market, you can get much better value (this should be a $75 hotel in this market) by looking around and booking online. I slipped into a room at the Westin while in town, and they were significantly nicer--if you need to stay in Crowne Center, that's a great option.

The other caveat--there's not much here. Crowne Center is allegedly a mall, but there's nothing but odd specialty shops and poor dining choices. You'll do well with a car, but if you have a car, you should just stay in another part of town.

I stay in a lot of nice hotels on business-this was not one of them. This hotel is a convention mill. My room was slightly better than a motel room. The lobby of the hotel has the look and feel of a municipal airport.
