“Great place to stay...downtown and close to Sprint Center”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

I stayed in a room with two double beds. The room was outstanding; very clean; updated bathroom; great bedding; a desk and office chair; and an easy chair. This hotel is a five minute walk to the Sprint Center so is an excellent place to stay for concerts and events in downtown Kansas City, MO. There are several downsides: parking is extra and you have the option to self-park or valet park; breakfast is extra; the hotel restaurant is expensive. You are just one block from the Power and Light District which has many great restaurants and bars. Free Wifi is available in all the rooms. My major complaint is that a room with two double beds was available for $200 or a King for $369. Quite a difference in price. I did not see an option for a room with a single queen bed. Also no pool!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the packages. I got a room with parking and breakfast for $210. This package was av...

Experience wasn't as good as in the past. 1. Staff not as friendly. 2. No live music as has historically been the case and currently advertised on Web site. 3. Room on 2nd floor near traffic was very loud!

Ryan,
Thanks for the quick candid review of your visit to our hotel. I am sorry, sounds like we did not live up to your past levels of service at our hotel. Certainly some areas for improvement. Thanks again for taking the time to share.

We loved this beautiful historic hotel. The entire staff from the front door and check-in to housekeeping was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable even though smaller than some-I have stayed at a newer hotel at Crown Center and the room wasn't any larger. The bed and pillows were great and nice amenities in the bath as well as the coffee. I did feel the room could have used a bit more air circulation but I'm used to sleeping with a fan. We booked a great deal through the Hilton website that included parking and buffet breakfast. We walked two blocks to the car auction at Bartle Hall and returned later to have cocktails at "The Drum Room". The weather was a bit raw and rainy so we decided to stay and have dinner at the "Providence" restaurant. The food was very good, prices reasonable and good service. After dinner we went back to "The Drum Room" for a night cap. The breakfast buffet was very good with omelets made to order and just about anything you would want. The servers were most pleasant and attentive. Overall a nice place to stay and I would recommend.

This is a historic property in the light and power district. It is a very nice area with plenty of shopping, restaurants and bars. The hotel itself has a lot of character and was recently rennovated. Rooms are small and I had the pleasure of being placed directly across from the ice machine. As a result I was woken up a few times at night during my stay with people getting ice and socializing. Very odd room placement as the hotel was nowhere near capacity (I inquired at the front desk and they said they have plenty of rooms). I woke up both days very stuffy - maybe the HVAC system had an effect on that. Breakfast buffet was OK (made to order omlettes, fruit and smoke salmon). If I came to KC for social reasons on a weekend I would definetly recommend, but for business during the week I would probably stay outside of downtown based on price and overall experience at the Hilton President.

Thanks for your time, and thanks for visiting our hotel. I am sorry it was quite loud around your room. Sometimes other guests can be quite loud in the hallways. I sure would have enjoyed the opportunity to move you to another room in quiet location. Hopefully you will visit us again, I am sure we can get you in a nice quiet area. Thanks again for your time and your review.

A very well kept old hotel that takes you back in time and still provides the modern conviences that one expects. We would not hesitate to stay again. Also, it is next to the Power & Light District for easy access. We had a wonderful short stay.

Recently stayed at Hilton President Kansas City for 3 nights. Architecture of building is beautiful as is the lobby but the rooms are boring and blah. Expected more of the rooms for a Hilton. Check in was easy and hotel seemed empty as did the city around the city after 5. Power and Light district was nearby with restaurants but again very empty.

Did not eat in hotel so cannot comment. Did visit the Starbucks in lobby in AM. Drove from the airport and used valet service. They did bring the wrong rental up one morning but otherwise no complaints. Very close access to many highways nearby. Walking distance to nearby sprint center/arena. Market with basics a few blocks away. No issues with wifi.

For the price paid ($129 per night including free wifi) room and location were satisfactory.

The Hilton President is located near the Power and Light District and the Convention center. The hotel just oozes with history. The lobby, elevators, halls all have a feel of yesteryear. Rooms are very modern and clean, large flat panel tv, decent signal wifi. The higher floors have great views of the city, power and light district. The Drum Room lounge is an amazing place for a drink although can be rather noisy at peak times. For us, the only place the Hilton fell short was the food. The breakfast was lackluster. Each day the buffet presented undercooked and cold eggs. The omelette station was stocked with dirty jars of ingredients. The wait staff in the Breakfast area was amazing. Very attentive and accommodating. If you are needing to be around the Power and Light District area this should be your destination.

Room Tip: High floor away from elevator. The halls can be noisy.
