My wife an I decided to visit the Kansas City area during Easter weekend and I picked this hotel because the review sounded very interesting. I like old hotels and we wanted something near downtown so this was the perfect location. The room was smaller then I would have liked which was a surprise since they usually give me a top room due to my status. The room did not have a fridge or a microwave, just a coffee maker and a safe. The bathroom was large with a walk-in shower but one of the doors was missing and a shower curtain was clearly stuck up as a hopefully as a temporary fix. The room was quiet despite being downtown in the Power and Light district. The restaurant served a decent breakfast buffet. Some of the front desk staff presented a somewhat smug attitude but most of the staff were friendly and attentive. The lobby has been restored and is a great example of a beautiful old hotel. All-in-all though for the price one would pay for this hotel I would have expected a little more from the rooms.
