“Wonderful Weekend Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

This is not your grandma's bed and breakfast. Peter and Theresa have combined their warm, welcoming personalities with a gorgeous home filled with intriguing artwork and sumptuous meals crafted with locally-sourced ingredients, making this one of my favorite B&Bs. We stayed in the Murdock Suite during a recent romantic getaway. The suite offered a wonderful retreat and the view from the private balcony was gorgeous. We will be returning soon!

My husband and I stayed at the Jefferson House this past weekend and found the whole experience to be one of the best that we've had at a B&B. Peter and Theresa picked a wonderful neighborhood to settle into, and their taste and charm abound in the Jefferson House. Our room was wonderful, great view of the Crossroads District in Kansas City, newly remodeled with impeccable taste and integrity to the history of the original house. The B&B has the feel of Kansas City with local flavor; from the artisan soaps from down the road to the honey at breakfast from up the street, I felt as though Peter and Theresa were carefully cultivating a quintessential downtown Kansas City experience with a Westside flare. The Westside neighborhood itself is a pleasure to visit with local farm to table fare at several outstanding restaurants along with an art driven culture. Theresa herself is a talented artist and cook, who made our breakfast experience incredible. We'll be back guys, thank you.

We can’t say enough good things about the Jefferson House or Peter and Theresa. Great city views the moment you drive up, and a warm, inviting porch. The first step in the house, you know you’re someplace special, and Peter is there to offer help with our luggage from the car. Everywhere you look in the house, there’s a piece of artwork, or a beautiful antique to admire. The colors in the house are gorgeous - colorful, but at the same time, soothing. Peter and Theresa share stories of the house, and have all sorts of recommendations of where to eat, and what to do in their very walkable neighborhood, or places to check out in Kansas City. Their hard work that went into making this house the showcase it is, is amazing ... and the breakfast - what a treat! A combination of artistic presentation, and delicious food prepared by Theresa in her beautiful kitchen, served on her lovely handmade pottery. We would for certain visit Kansas City again, and look forward to another stay at the Jefferson House.

Joe and I just loved our experience at Jefferson House. We were worn out parents when we arrived, and were so glad to find that the bed and breakfast had spacious rooms and a quiet atmosphere. We really enjoyed the casual, comfortable elegance Peter and Theresa have created. Times away from our three little kids are very rare, and we decided to take a chance and try someplace new. We are so glad we did! We would recommend this place to any of our (equally as weary!) friends. We were in the Murdock Suite, and liked having a balcony with an overlook of the KC skyline. Everything was just wonderful, and we are looking forward to going back again!

Room Tip: Murdock Suite has two rooms, a balcony and a bathroom. Well worth the extra money!

We have stayed at several B and B's in many locations and feel confident in assessing the value of an experience. Peter and Theresa were the epitome of perfect hosts. Friendly, charming, full of information about attractions and dining establishments, as well as being engaging and interesting conversationalists! The decor of the house was a wonderful blend of old and new with beautiful art pieces distributed through out a brilliantly restored home. It is not the flowers and over the top chintz that you see so often. A beautiful garden to stroll through, a funky and eclectic up and coming neighborhood of restraunts and coffee shops and a breathtaking view of Kansas City. Breakfast was excellent as well. It is amazing to us that they have only been at this since August. We loved every minute of our stay in their home and will be back as soon as we can! We will HIGHLY RECOMMEND this experience to everyone that we know!! thak you Peter and Theresa!!

My husband and I live in KC but needed a local weekend to celebrate our anniversary. The Jefferson House fit the bill perfectly. Peter and Teresa are gracious hosts and their home is anything but the lace and chintz experience of too many bed and breakfasts. The furnishings and decor include antique and contemporary pieces that all work together to create a comfortable and beautiful space. We particularly loved the upstairs outdoor patio and outdoor gardens as places to relax. Teresa's breakfast was incredible, a delicate smoked salmon quiche and autumn-inspired pear-ginger compote. It's also located in the west side area of KC, filled with great restaurants. I would recommend the Jefferson House to anyone!

Romantic getaway. A BEAUTIFUL restoration of the Mulkey Home that overlooks the Kansas City skyline. Truly a work of art, every detail considered. I can't say enough about the warm hospitality that Peter and Theresa showed. Breakfast was a banquet. The neighborhood has restaurants, shops . . . . VERY close to the art district, Power and Light.

Room Tip: Mulkey Room was spacious, great view, beautiful bath.
