“Highlight of My Guest's Time in Kansas City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Recently entertained a young man from Germany. Learned he was very knowledgeable about and interested in airplanes of all types. I told him we had to make it to this museum. We were fortunate to have a private tour with a volunteer named John. He and my guest hit it off well and discussed details about airplanes that I found it hard to keep up with. Took my guest to other sites, museums and tours over a week. At the end he didn't hesitate when asked what his favorite was. Buying his admission ticket was the best $8 I've spent in a long time!

“Worth the drive for airliner fans!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012 via mobile

While not convenient to get to, the quality of displays are worth it for anyone that is a fan of airline history. I was raised as an "airline brat" and grew up in the 1970s seeing the end of the glory days of Pan Am, so it was nice to see the displays depicting various aspects the advances in airline operation. Make sure you look at the navigation display before touring the inside of the Constellation. The restoration work on all the aircraft on display was really outstanding!

“Well Worth This Side-Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

Go to the old Downtown Airport (MKC). You'll find the newly-opened TWA Museum and the Airline History Museum. The people who are restoring these old airline passenger planes are doing a fantastic job. Support them by going on a tour of their facilities and actually climbing aboard several old airliners which have been recreated on the inside like their old flying days. There is a short video and display area with artifacts that will surely bring back some great memories of the glory days when people dressed-up to fly.

Cost was $8.00 for adults. Free parking. On the southwest side of the airfield.

“Hidden Gem!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2012

Very nice museum. Often overlooked. Very interesting things to see. Boarding the planes is really great. A very different kind of travel than it is today. Former employees of TWA staff the museum, making it an even great experience with first hand knowledge of the planes.

“cool converted Hanger”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2012

Who knew Kansas City had so much airline history, from the founding of TWA, and the Howard Hughes Legacy, to the great historic airplanes, the Constellation and the tail-dragging DC3, plus the original TWA rocket that inspired Disney.
