“Worth a Trip for Young Kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

We went to visit Legoland on a Saturday, so we were nervous about how busy it would be. We purchased tickets online for entry between 2-3 pm and we arrived around 2:45 pm. There were only a few people in line ahead of us - we waited in line less than 5 minutes. The tickets were pricey - they were nearly $100 for our family of 6. Though the employees were nice, there seemed to be some disorganization to getting people through the exhibits. Despite it being a Saturday, it was not terribly busy. By around 5, it was getting fairly quiet. Our kids had a good time - something that was enhanced by the quietness of the afternoon and they were allowed to ride the rides multiple times. My oldest child, who is 9 and did not have much prior experience with Legos, was even inspired by the master class to build at home. This definitely is more oriented to children 10 and under. Legoland is not likely a place that we will visit repeatedly, but we did have fun.

“Lots of Fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

I took my 6 yr old son and 13 yr old daughter here and they both enjoyed it. I was unsure if my daughter would find it interesting at all but she enjoys building so building a car to race was the best part for her. My son enjoyed the 2 rides that are inside. The area is small but laid out well. My 6 yr old had a blast and we spent around 5 hours taking advantage of every station it had to offer. Worth the money and the trip!

“Mini-cation made marvelous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

We planned a mini-cation for our 4 year old son and 3 year old nephew to spend an overnighter in KC and Legoland was the real purpose for the trip. We went on a holiday so it was busy, but not so much so that we couldn't enjoy it. It was awesome, they've done a fabulous job making this attraction work for "kids" of all ages (Lego fanatic Daddies included, lol). We're already planning a time to return with all 3 of our kids (ages 15, 13 &4). Ticket prices weren't bad, we did miss out on their value pricing due to going on a holiday, but $60 for all 4 of us to enjoy a full day of play, it was a good value. (We spent alot more than that in the gift shop! lol) If you're undecided about adding this to your travel plans; 1 word: GO!

PS...buy tickets in advance online. They are discounted AND you get priority entrance to the attraction. Have fun!

“Happiest place on earth (not really), but certainly the loudest”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

We accompanied my nephew and nieces there (age 10ish). While the concept is neat, the line to get in was long, the noise level once inside unbearable (for the kids too), and many of the exhibits did not function. The lego KC exhibit was the highlight, but many portions of it were out of order. It would have been cheaper and much more enjoyable to buy the kid a hundred dollars worth of lego at Walmart and let them play with it.

“Exploitation of a brand”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

The kids (ages 6 and 8) had fun, but we as adults were not impressed by LegoLand. I highly recommend purchasing advance tickets online (it's a bit cheaper and the lines are shorter). On a busy day, if you do not have advance tickets, be prepared to wait in line for over an hour. With advance tickets, you still must wait in line if it's a busy day (we waited about 15 minutes in line).

First, the positive. The kids had fun. They enjoyed building race cars, building airplanes and different things, the stability tester, and the play area where the kids could climb, etc. (similar to a McDonalds play place). They also enjoyed the two rides. On one ride, you shoot at different bad guys and your score is recorded on the car you're riding on. Another ride is a spinning ride where you also pedal and the pedaling moves your car to the top.

Now for the bad. There were a lot of attractions that were just plain lame. When you walk in, you enter a room that teaches how Legos are made. This would be so much better if an employee were there to teach the process or if there was something showing an actual Lego being made before your eyes. Instead, there were just uninteresting displays and things that I'm not even sure were in working order. Speaking of things not being in working order, when we first arrived, the Kingdom Quest ride was out of order, but was operational within about 30 minutes. It was ok, but an inconvenience. In general, the place just does not have much employee supervision or involvement. The area where you build your own race cars is a free-for-all, with kids guessing how to build a race car and then it is all down to survival of the fittest which kids get to race their cars. Older kids tend to take over these areas, the parents don't always do a good job of policing their kids.

The Cafe is TERRIBLE. I am not picky, but man this place is bad. You have the following options for food: pizza, hot dogs, nachos, pretzels, muffins, and cookies. You can get a pizza meal deal (large pizza, 4 drinks, and 4 bags of chips) for $30. There is a special price if you pay in advance online (there is a similar deal for hot dogs). We got the pizza deal. The pizza might be the greasiest I've ever seen. It was pretty gross. Your options for toppings are cheese and pepperoni. We also ordered pretzels, which are COATED in salt. We actually requested no salt, but they came salted anyway. The tables are also SUPER tiny so you barely have room for the pizza box, let alone room to eat.

I would recommend going to SeaLife (right next door) instead of LegoLand, but the kids did like it, so that is all that counts. I think adult Lego lovers would be very disappointed.

As a side note, I also recommend that you not bring your coat, as there is no storage available.
