Stunning hotel ...loved the history of the building, stylish renovation of public spaces and the large, comfortable and beautifully appointed guest rooms. Both the wait staff and hotel staff were superb and professional in appearance and service -- similar to what one would experience at a fine hotel in large U.S. and European cities.
Great bar food and excellent selection of wines – bottle or by the glass and the best Russian Mules and Manhattans!!! And jazzy live music in the bar on one of the nights of our stay.
Good location in the heart of KC -- easily accessible to museums, shopping, restaurants, jazz clubs, and other KC entertainment venues.

Overall a most memorable experience. We will definitely come back.

Room Tip: The double bedded rooms were spacious and very comfortable -- complete with fine linens, amenities...

Amazing location! We went to the annual Kansas City Burlesque Festival at The Folly Theater which is only a couple of blocks away. We used the Ambassador shuttle service which was fast and runs until 11pm. The Power & Light district is down the street. The room was clean, comfortable and beautifully designed. From the moment we checked in the staff was friendly and knowledgable. This is EXACTLY what I expect when I go to a hotel - perfection and service!

Really lovely boutique hotel, GREAT food. I had a burger and fries - the fries were big, meaty garlicky natural cut fries with parmesan cheese --delicious! I also tried the beignets and my coworkers had a berry crisp they said was great.

The service was also spot on, very friendly. The complimentary car service a huge, huge help, also.

The hotel is pretty quiet, which I was surprised about, considering my room was adjacent to the 5th floor elevator. Rooms are stylish and comfortable. Only drawback I know of is that my boss tried to use the workout room and she said it was pretty much just a closet, very small, no tv or anything,

Another nice little touch -- she had a new car and when she asked about covered parking due to a possible hailstorm, they gave her a free pass to the garage across the street.

Stayed for two nights in April 2013. Very very pleased with the accommodations and service. Probably the best hotel currently in KC.

The hotel is located in the Power and Light district. It is near a lot of touristy stuff and restaurants and also rather close to the Crown Center. It is about 15 minutes from Country Club Plaza.

The hotel is an old renovated bank. The hotel did a great job at renovating the building and making modern, comfortable rooms.

The room was immaculate. The bed was very comfortable with great sheets and lots of pillows. Towels were plentiful, large and soft. Shampoos were Gilchrest and Sohmes. The room had real, working blackout curtains - you could actually make the room pitch black in the middle of the day.

The bathroom was very large. The shower was a large walk in shower surrounding in granite. Water pressure was great.

The room included free bottled water and a Keurig.

Service was excellent. All staff were friendly. We used the concierge to book a hair appointment and they were very helpful. We also used the free Escalade to drop us off and pick us up at various points during our stay.

Room service was quite good and ridiculously cheap ($9 for an omelet for example).

If I had to nit-pick, the only bad thing was that the rooms need more lights; they are dark in the evening.

Overall, an excellent stay.

The Ambassador Hotel in Downtown Kansas City is beautiful! It is in an old bank building that stood empty for years and was scheduled to be torn down. I love to see these old downtown buildings saved from the wrecking ball. The building has been restored and remodeled, with a beautiful lobby, dining area and bar.The rooms are fabulous - roomy and wonderfully decorated.
The staff was friendly and helpful. We ate breakfast both morning at the Reserve in the hotel. The food was excellent. There is off street parking for $15.00 per day which is normal for that part of the city. The price of the hotel is a bit high, but for the location it really wasn't bad.
The location was what it was all about for us and was excellent for our needs. We were there to attend a Bon Jovi concert at the Sprint Center - a block and half away. It was great to be able to walk there and not have to worry about concert traffic.
There are plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance.
My only complaint would be that there is no vending on the premises. The rooms have refrigerators, so if you want sodas or snacks, be sure to buy them on the way there.
While you are there, be sure to go into the business center. They have a picture album in there with before and after pictures of the building as it went under renovations.

I am delighted that you "Loved It"! Thank you for your great review, we are always thrilled when our guests have a memorable experience. I happy you found our before and after photo album, its always fun to look back at how the building looked then and compare it to the beautiful, restored treasure that it is today. We hope you will stay with us again!

This hotel is very modern and chic, but not large like the chains. We really liked that the parking lot was right next to the door (its about $15 a day) and we used the free Escalade service a number of times. We had a great corner room and I never heard any of our neighbors and I was surprised at how quiet it was, even on a Friday night. The rooms look exactly as pictured, ours was much larger than expected. The bartender our first night was fun and we enjoyed the $6 happy hour drinks (try the daquiri!), the second night we were the only ones there and definitely got forgotten about and had to wait quite some time for our check. It was disappointing because it was probably the only time that the staff wasn't outstanding. The staff is very youthful and helpful, every time you walk in or out SOMEONE will tell you to enjoy your day or have a good night.
The only draw back we experienced was a film crew filming in the hotel during our stay. This was not explained to us at check in and we instead returned from a day of shopping to find a notice posted that by entering the hotel we were agreeing to be filmed. Needless to say, this is not how you wish to find out this type of information. The film crew unfortunately tied up BOTH elevators on multiple occasions and they were generally just a little awkward and disruptive, crowding the entry way or monopolizing the front entrance. We made a mention of it to the front desk who acknowleged it and said she would speak to them but a manager never reached out and apologized for the inconvenience, which I found really odd in a hotel with such great service. I would have appreciated a token offering of free parking or breakfast due to having to take the stairs.
I will certainly consider staying here again when I'm in the area...but I'll definitely ask whether there are any 'special events' happening in the hotel first.

Room Tip: Pay a little more to upgrade from the standard. You get a LARGE corner room with no neighbors! :)

We were in KC for the NCAA tournament. The Ambassador is just two blocks away so it's very convenient. We had a king bedroom with a separate sitting area. There was a half bath in addition to full bath which made it very useful for guests. The decor is contemporary and the furnishings were very nice. They provided plush robes and they felt wonderful. So much so that my husband bought one for me!!! We had room service. Both the food and service were good. We wanted to shop at the Plaza one day and their shuttle took us there which was a nice surprise. The staff was very accommodating. We will definitely stay at the Ambassador again when in the area.
