What a wonderful museum in which to spend the day enjoying. There are multiple floors of not just art but history.
There are not many museums like this in the country so do not miss this one.

“Don't miss it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The Nelson-Atkins Museum has one of the finest Asian art collections anywhere. Their contemporary art collection is excellent. The new, to me, Bloch Building was very interesting to see. It hadn't been built the last time I was at the museum. What a wonderful addition. We saw a Picasso exhibit that focused more on the artist than his work, a delightful photography exhibit and also took in much of the European, Egyptian and Roman art. Not enough time to explore everything this museum has to offer. Can't really be done in a day. The Nelson-Atkins can hold it's own with any art museum in the world. Don't miss it when you're in KC.

“A pleasant surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

This is my fourth visit to Kansas City and I regret that it took me four visits to finally visit the Nelson! This beautiful museum is comparable to the MET in NYC; the exhibits are world class and the design is simply gorgeous. The place really invites you to explore and find something special in it. My friend and I did a collections highlight tour and had the pleasure of learning from a knowledgeable community member, Ann, who was also passionate in the art of the museum. My friend and I had a great time doing the tour, exploring the museum and walking in the sculpture park. We parked at the side of the road (right by the sculpture park) and it was free. I would definitely go back again and would recommend anyone stopping by Kansas City on Feb 8th-9th to check out the Chinese New Year event.

“A surprise in Kansas City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I was familiar with the NAMA because of the acclaim the recent addition received (well worth the visit at night), but I was not prepared for the quality of the collection nor the experience of visiting the museum. There's a little bit of everything, both the masters you'd expect as well as some offbeat and unusual choices, a Noguchi "garden" and the Hall Photography Collection.

The newer addition is bright and well-lit and the older building is amazing architecturally. The Cafe Sebastienne gets great reviews as well.

Even though admission is free, I joined so as to support the museum as well as to receive convenient free parking.

“Must see.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

Enter the museum through the recent Bloch building- internationally award winning architecture! This houses the photography collection that is world class. Photo and multi-media shows. Move on to see great art collection, esp. Asian. Cafe is wonderful, as is the gift shop.
