“Field trip”

I went with my daughter and her class for their school field trip. I was very worried that it was going to be boring- I was wrong! I learned so much and their is A LOT to see.

“When do you get to see a Steamboat Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

I love the location of this place as it is on the city market where everyone in the city comes to get fresh fruits and vegetables. The Museum has really been put together very well. I really like the narrated video. Its like being part of the History Channel.

“INteresting museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

I was amazed by what we saw at this museum. Pretty amazing stuff. We were thrilled when a man came up and asked if we had any questions....and it was one of the original "explorers" who funded the dig. Very Cool. Really little kids may not enjoy it. Most exhibits are "look & see" type exhibits. No hands on activity exhibits.

“A step back in history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

The entire contents of an 1854 cargo steamship, 200 feet long, was recovered and is on display. Thousands of artifacts being shipped to hardware, clothing and shoe stores were found intact, cleaned and placed on display. Our tour guide was college history professor who did a great job.

“History revealed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Anyone who has an interest in what made our nation great should check this place out. Do not be put off by the market, it all adds to the fun of the day. Allow 3 hours, I would advise going in the morning or around noon so you can kill two birds with one stone because visiting the museum without the museum is like strawberries without the cream.
