“Not bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013 via mobile

We were traveling from Colorado to Indiana and decided to stop in Joplin, MO for the night. We were looking for a pet friendly hotel with a reasonable price. We called around and the La Quinta fit the bill. The reviews stated that it was recently renovated. Well it had been renovated, but the rooms had low ceilings and the furnishings were on the cheap side. It was clean and the bathroom was fine. The front desk personnel were friendly and gave us a good rate for the night. There was no extra charge for our cat. It was fine for one night but I would not stay there for an extended time.

We have stayed in over two dozen La Quintas and this has the best breakfast yet. They have done a lot of remodeling and painting, and are supposed to get new furniture in the spring. However, clean is very important to us and their housekeeping does not understand clean. The edges of the carpet are thick with dirt, and I messed up a wash cloth cleaning black on the floor by the bath tub. Sorry, but they need to hire and train a housekeeping staff.

This La Quinta is OK, but doesn't deserve a three star rating. It has been converted from the original chain, maybe a Rode Way Inn, but regtardless of the attempt, it just doesn't measure up to a true three star. A lot of redecorating, but it still has older furniture that needs updating or replaced. It seems to be clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms have been repainted and the carpet replaced and work is still in process. It is a good attempt, but needs more than paint and carpet. Don't get me wrong, it is not terrible, but it is just OK for the $'s at best. I was placed on the third floor and workers were decorating the rooms on both sides of mine. The hall was cluttered with tools, material and matresses from the rooms. I'm sure there were other rooms available, the place is huge, so why put me in a room between two that are still in the process of being upgraded ? Perhaps if all the work was complete, I would be able to give it a higher rating.

Nice place to stay and the motel accepts our dog which is very important when we travel. This hotel also has a restaurant attached so we don't have far to go to get something to eat. This is important after a long travel day.

This hotel has been updated since the tornado and they have really stepped up their game. I stayed in a King Suite, and the room was spacious. A large television screen in the room was great. Most hotels have a 32" tv, but this was more like a 48" class! Very nice La Quinta!

Decent enough hotel. Carpets need replaced/cleaned. Breakfast was good and breakfast room was clean. Attendant was very friendly. Front desk clerk was friendly and check in/check out process was smooth. Some of the furniture looked run down and in need of repair/replacement.
