“Some problems, but pretty good overall.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2010

Negatives. .
1. Breakfast area is small and the attendant was absent.
2. Biggest negative was bright lights in the front of hotel all night long, making it difficult to get a dark room. If light-sensitive, you may want to try the back side.

On positive side:
1. Wired internet access (free) was greatly appreciated.
2. As with most Marriott hotels, it was in good shape, very clean.
3. Nice pool, although I didn't use it.

This must be a relatively new hotel as you can't locate the hotel online (Google Maps for example). It finds "Arizona" but not "South Arizona" which, BTW is on the other side of the highway from where all the other hotels are. After driving around for about 15 minutes looking (as guys always do), I decided to call the hotel for directions. Got an auto-attendant with only two options. Reservations, or the operator ... so, I select the operator. Rang, and Rang, and Rang ... for 6 minutes with no answer (really, ask my cell phone carrier if you don't believe me). Hung up and tried again. Another 3 minutes with no answer. Finally had to pull up to another Marriott Property (Fairfield Inn) to ask for directions. They were very friendly, courteous and helpful. Would it be so difficult to add a third option on the auto-attendant with specific directions to the hotel?

Nothing special or unique about the hotel. I don't think I ever got a good afternoon or good evening when passing by the front desk (if you ever even saw anyone). Breakfast was basic ... some baked products, dry cereal, and some juice. I think you can make your own waffles, but they didn't look inviting (liquid waffle mix pre-portioned in plastic cups sitting on the counter (no ice, nothing) ... I think it's perishable once mixed with water).

When checking out, I stopped at the front desk and waited for 3 minutes, and no one bothered to help. Someone was in the office on the computer with their back to me, another in the back room doing laundry or something. I left the keys on the desk. So long!

Might as well be a self-serve, self check-in hotel.

Nice room and location, away from main Joplin drag, but next to Cracker Barrel. Our room had kitchenette, dishwasher, microwave, frig. Only complaint would be noisy people on floor above us. Great value for $70.

I stayed three nights. Very good in all respects; clean, well kept, staff very helpful. Good location. Just minutes away from every possible franchise restaurant.

Great room for an overnight stay. The breakfast area is very small, so if you hit it with other travelers, you will be cramped. All of the facility is nice and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here one night. Used Marriott Reward Points. I really liked this place. The rooms were very spacious and clean. I really liked the bathroom area. The vanity/sink was outside the shower and toilet so one person could shower while the other got dressed. Didn't use the pool or fitness room but both looked fine. Plenty of variety at breakfast. The reason I didn't give cleanliness a "5" was because there was a hint of lipstick left on one of the coffee mugs. I got over it. Would definitely stay here again.

Our reservation got mixed up and instead of getting the two beds we requested, we got one bed and a "sofa" sleeper. Found this out at check in and it could not be changed; hotel was full. The sofa folded out into a TWIN size bed, barely big enough for our teen son. We made a 'bed' for our daughter using the sofa cushions on the floor. Front desk had no more blankets, thankfully we had a few travel size ones in the car.

The room itself is nice and clean. Tiny kitchen is handy. Unique closet includes a door into the bathroom.

Front desk person tried to be helpful but just seemed young and inexperienced. When I pointed out to her that the pool towels were all gone, she gave me room towels to use (fine) but the pool towels were not replenished that evening at all.
Pool is fine if small. A very small fitness room is next door.

Breakfast was a chaotic mess. The standard feed-yourself-fare is set up in a small galley style hallway. It quickly became choked with guests trying to cook their own waffles, fix toast, etc....The area is entirely too small for the guests it needs to serve. Also, my husband waited for 15 minutes for coffee before giving up.

There is an outside walk that leads to the Cracker Barrel restaurant next door.
