“One of the best!”

This is easily one of the best B & B's I've stayed at on either side of the Atlantic. I have actually stayed there twice (once on my own and once with my husband) while doing research at the MO State Archives. The B & B was recommended to me by another researcher and I am very grateful for the tip. The rooms are really "roomy" and they are kept spotless. The breakfasts are wonderful. On my first visit I stayed for a week and Thom came up with a different breakfast selection every single day. The breakfasts are huge and will keep you from suffering hunger pangs until suppertime if need be. Thom and his wife are hospitality personified. My research is done, but I am trying to come up with an excuse to get back to Jefferson City so I can stay at Cliff Manor again.

Wonderful old house- and as the other reviews have stated and restated, Thom is an incredible host! The suite was very spacious, immaculately clean, great enclosed back porch overlooking the river- fantastic view- even a patio if you want to sit outdoors and enjoy the river view a little closer- and view of the Capital. The whirlpool in the suite was just an added bonus. The food could not have been better. Thom makes you feel comfortable enough to ask any questions you'd like- or if you want peace, quiet, and privacy, he is fine w/ that, too. I don't think you will find a better all-round B&B- with great amenities--- any where close!

Our host, Tom, picked us up on the Katy Bike Trail and from that very moment our stay was extraordinary. Tom and his wife know how to run a B&B! Organized, friendly, helpful and informative. A must stay if you're in the area. By the way, Tom recommended the Paddy Malone's Irish Pub just a block and a half away. It was also a hit.

We stayed at Cliff Manor after a day of biking on the Katy Trail. Thom picked us up as soon as we called from the trailhead, and saved us from risking our lives on the bridge! We had time before dinner to walk around the scenic neighborhood overlooking the Missouri capitol, the Missouri River and bridge. We opted to include dinner at Cliff Manor in our stay and were not disappointed. We both thought it was one of the best meals we had ever eaten! Our room was very spacious and clean with snacks and a frig in the room. We cannot wait to stay there again and will once again include dinner.

We rode the Katy Trail in June decided to stay at Cliff Manor based on their web site and the fact that they offered a shuttle service. We had heard that riding across the bridge into Jeff City can be scary, so we opted for Thom's shuttle service to the B&B for only $5 extra. We simply called him when we arrived and he was there to pick us up within minutes.

Upon arriving, Thom removed our bikes from the truck and hosed them off (they were really dirty from the trail because it had rained in the morning). We didn't expect that -- What a nice guy! He also took our water bottles, washed them, filled them with water, and froze them in his freezer overnight. Again, outstanding!

The room we had booked was requested by another guest for 2 nights, and no one had booked the suite, so Thom decided to give us the suite for our one night so that the other guests didn't have to switch rooms on their 2nd night (a free upgrade for us!). The Riverview suite was beautiful, with a huge bathroom with jacuzzi tub, separate shower, and a sunroom off the bathroom with a view of the Missouri River. The entire house sits high atop a bluff overlooking the river to the North and the State Capital to the East. The house (both inside and out) was very clean and well kept.

Thom told us to try the Irish pub for dinner, which we did and they had great hamburgers. Just what we needed after a long day of biking, and it was only a block away.

Breakfast was wonderful: Belgian waffles with fruit and sausage patties. Thom is quite the cook. After eating, we were ready to set out for the 3rd leg of our trip on the trail, which was Jeff City to Hermann. I asked Thom what time he could shuttle us back over the bridge and he said whenever we would like...he is at our beck and call. We thought that was tremendous service, especially considering he was still serving other guests at breakfast (his wife Liz also helps out but we never saw her).

Overall, I would highly recommend Cliff Manor as a peaceful, relaxing place to stay, with top notch service like you would expect to find in a 5-star hotel.

Staying at Cliff Manor was an unbelieveable experience. The hospitality provided by Thom was great, and the house is immaculate. If you get the chance to eat dinner, be sure to do it -- the 2 meals we had there were some of the best I have had in a long time. I would highly reccommend this B&B to anyone, and the pick-up/drop-off from the Katy Trail was flawless.
