“Nice old bridge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

Take some bread to feed the ducks, have a pie and coffee on the river banks, marvel at the way things would have been back in the 1820's. It's a good detour on the way to Port Arthur. We also visited the Goal, Old Hobart Model Town, the churches and had a pie from the bakery ...

“Richmond is a lovely town.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

Richmond Bridge is the oldest bridge in Australia. It is a very pretty area. The banks of the river provide a lovely grassed area to relax and there is bread to feed the ducks. There are tables and seats and it is all kept tidy. Wander around the the village. It really is a very lovely area.

“Lovely place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

We went there every morning. We love the birds, the ducks and the river side. We can't find this feeling from town.

“Park and walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

This is the oldest standing bridge in Australia (c1823) but doesn't look it.

It took 2 years for the convicts to build between 1823 and 1825. There is ample parking but no toilet facilities. There were lots of birds around the river and a quaint school opposite.

We spent about 15 minutes but you could easily spend more time just sitting on the lawn and maybe even a picnic. Lovely setting in a lovely town.

From here you can take an easy walk to St Johns Church.
