“Fantastic old cottage.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013 via mobile

We only stayed one night here but I wish we had stayed longer. This is an old style cottage with a few modern touches. If your after sleek modern wankiness this is not for you, but if you like authentic old with still being comfortable this is the place for you. Julie made us seem very welcome, and provided us with lots of home comforts like fresh eggs, bread, port and chocolates. Would highly reccomend to anybody.

This historic little cottage offers a relaxing and comfortable stay. At first it feels like you are visiting at your grandmothers, but once you kick off your shoes, build a fire and have a glass of the port provided you will feel very much at home and let out a sigh of total relaxation. In addition to the fireplace and a heater in the kitchen, a portable heater is provided and the bathroom heat lamp was appreciated on a chilly morning (though the bathroom could do with a thick place rug or something as those tiles are a bit cold!). The bed was very comfortable and the rooms were clean. Basic breakfast fixings were provided (eggs, bread, jam etc). The owner was very nice and helpful. There is a small bit of noise in the morning from the adjacent road but it was quite minor. It's a short 5-10 minute walk to the little town's main street.

We stay in the cottage for 6 nights stay, and at extremely valuable for stay. The cottage also provide woodfire for our cold night, and also with a unforgettable garden. The owner are alway helpful and nice.

Please delete the review that I sent earlier today (9am, 20th October) which mistakenly referred to a B&B in Hobart City rather than this one in Richmond.

Laurel Cottages accomodation was excellent in every way. The Landlady was charming , welcoming and very helpful. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and well appointed. Although the weather was very cool, there were adequate facilities for heating the rooms. Although breakfast was "do-it-yourself", the foods and facilities provided were very adequate. A very enjoyable experience in a lovely setting.

Wish we were able to stay two nights, but only available for a night... Just amazed the way the cottage was set up. Loved every parts of the house. Julie the owner was helpful, but make sure you get there by 2pm, or call her to let her know you will be late. She will have everything you need in the cottage. Only two minutes walk to the historic oldest bridge in Australia.

We stayed (2 couples) one night in Geraldine Cottage which was rustic quaint and very cosy, in keeping with the atmosphere of this historic town. The owners were most obliging and when we left an item behind they went well out of their way to return it. The owners also manage Laurel Cottage in Wellington St .

Stayed at Geraldine cottage, with same owner at the moment as laurel cottages - for sale sign in front.
Arrived in the afternoon for a wander around. Everything just worked as required. A bit of a suburban street, but everything in Richmond is walking distance.
