“Place to rest after a big day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

We had an excellent stay at the Richmond Barracks with a warm welcome from Liz and Martin. The "Lady Esther" was perfect for us with Liz bringing us a breakfast basket each evening for the next day and when we came home in the evening we had a light on and a warm welcoming room. We would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay at Richmond for a night or longer.

We had a couple of nights at the end of our trip with nothing planned. All we knew was that we wanted to visit some of the wineries in the Coal Valley area. Richmond seemed like a good place to stay. I consulted Tripadvisor and the Richmond Barracks came up on the list.
Initally we asked to stay one night, but after the best night's sleep for over a week in the comfort of Lady Esther's Cottage we didn't want to move on.

Just spent 8 days in Tassie and had 3 nights at The Richmond Barracks. When we arrived we were greated by the delightful Liz who made our stay wonderful and who also bought us a nice breakfast basket every morning. The cottage itself was perfect ,it was clean and comfortable and the heating was great. We will return here and would highly recommend this place to anyone.

We arrived in Tasmania and went straight to the Richmond Barracks.
What a great place to stay, we stayed in the Retreat.
Cosy and warm, had everything we needed.
Sory we only had the one night there.
Hope to go back one day in the future.
Have recommended to our friends who are going over in Sept.

We stayed in the Lady Esther Cottage, sadly only for one night, at the end of our amazing Tassie holiday with another couple.
The room was perfect for our needs, spotless, well equipped and exactly as described in the literature. Hosts Liz and Martin were friendly and welcoming.
We had booked into Richmond for our last night purely to be close to the airport and regretted we didn't realise what a delightful place it is,worthy of more than just one night.
Liz recommended The Ashmore Restaurant for dinner and it was delightful.

Highly recommend The Richmond Barracks!!

Another place I wished we could have stayed longer than one night. The room was clean and spacious (we stayed in The Cellar). It's in a good location off the main road but in easy walking distance of Richmond's must sees. Very friendly hosts and a very well stocked breakfast basket.

a delightful set of cottages. I can't wait for my next stay in June, and also in December. Liz and Martin were so helpful when another facility let me down. Can't praise the cottages or the service from Liz and Martin more highly every detail is meticulously taken care of, even night lights so i don't blunder about in the dark. A wonderful stay, highly recommended. Beth.
