“Don't stay here unless desperate”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

We were taken to this hotel and were very unhappy with our accommodation. The first room we were given had no running water, so asked for another which did have some water. The beds were very uncomfortable and the pillow was like sleeping on a large rock. The food was edible in the restaurant but we had problems with language.

It is good to go to Paracas and go on a trip out to the Ballestras Islands but I'm sure there would be better accommodation.

Room Tip: Don't choose one here

barely a 2 stars hotel. It seems that Peru is generous for "stars". This hotel was old: no a/c, old tube tv, internet not working. Food was ok but nothing to remember of.
Very noisy if you room faces the main road. In any case, walls and doors offer no filter for the noise coming from walking guests, cars,...

Room Tip: don't go if your budget can afford more otherwise just think it is for one night only...

It is a simple motel, with a decent pool. But rooms are small, bathrooms dirty and smelly, full of ants, flies and spiders. Too old, overpriced

The rooms themselves are fairly basic and the bathroom could certainly do with a lift although the shower worked fine with plenty of hot water and it all seemed pretty clean.
Arrived after dark and it appeared that the hotel was in the middle of nowhere so we decided to use the poolside restaurant. The food was very good, although it is a little strange being the only people about.
The following morning we found we were only a short walk from town and harbour, but due to the lack of lighting we had had no idea. Basic breakfast, eggs, rolls, jam and the off for a trip round the islands (interesting if smelly).
Popped back and used the pool (a real bonus) was tempted to stay and eat in the hotel again, but popped into town instead. Nice staff, allowed us to check out a couple of hours late for our bus.
Pleasant stay in a nice hotel with basic rooms.

El Mirador is a nice place to stumble upon and a good place to base yourself for trips into the Paracas National Park.
The rooms are quite simple but very clean with good bathrooms and beds. Breakfast on the verandah was nice and you can see the sea about 200 metres away. This hotel is on the very edge of town but the place is so small that it only takes 5 minutes to walk into town.
The only slight downside about it is the fact you are right on the edge of the Pan America so you always hear traffic. On the plus side though you have fabulous gardens, a huge swimming pool and a nice area around the pool to eat and have drinks.

Room Tip: Stay at the back of the hotel where is is quieter

3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2011

I spent the nite there this week and I expected basic and I got basic. I wanted to do the Isle Ballestra boat tour from Lima. I took Cruz del Sur and the hotel is walking distance from the bus stop. I don't know what people expect as 'expensive' but even with the lousy US exchange a single room was around $45 with brkfst included. A single was 140 Soles and a double was I think 190. Since there are NO other hotels convenient to boat tours and close to the Parque reserve your choices are ltd. The Doubletree is way out of town and you'd pay hundreds of dollars for a nite. The hotel arranged a boat tour for me and they picked me up at the hotel. IN the afternoon I asked them to arrange a taxi and driver to take me for a 3 hr private tour of the Park which was nice to do. That cost me the equivalent of around $20. Unless your super picky, this is on the level of a Motel Six. There was a bed, tv and hot water. The grumpy waiter is still there but even though I was the only one in the rest dinner was good and so was brkfst. If your expectations aren't set too high this place is just fine an filled a need for a hotel convenient to doing a tour. They also stored my luggage so I could take the bus back from Lima in the afternoon.

Some pros and cons on the hotel

Advantage
- The hotel has a grand pool

Disadvantage
- The hotel lacks atmosphere, it more seems a big building block
- During dinner and breakfast you are served by a very grumpy man, who obviously doesnt like his job
- The hotel is too expensive for what it offers - especially during low season (only 4 guests in the hotel) you would expect them to lower the prices.
- As the hotel is so close to the ocean you would expect fresh fish.... No - everything during dinner came from the freezer....
- This was the only hotel in whole Peru where we didnt get fresh orange juice at breakfast.
- Their promotion offer with dinner and islas ballestas is a complete rip off. Better organise the tour yourself, and eat in one of the restaurants in paracas.
