“Over-priced and uncomfortable”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2008

We booked a 10 day stay at Troncones Surf Club. The property is beautiful and the grounds are well maintained, however it was a very uncomfortable stay. The casa where we stayed had only one ceiling fan and not enough mosquito nets were provided (you essentially sleep outside). There's no sea breeze that reaches the casa's because it 100 yards off the beach so it's oppressively hot in the afternoon and early evening there. The casa has a composting toilet which seems like a good idea but was uncomfortable and unclean. There are much better options on Manzanillo Bay for similar price (one was the Inn at Manzanillo Bay). Throughout Troncones there are many other options including cheaper hotels with AC.

If you're surfing, the wave at Manzanillo Bay is fun, but a very mushy wave that requires a bigger swell to be good. Saladita is a 30 minute drive away is a long good wave. Troncones has a long beach break with some fun short waves.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate your love of the landscaping and buildings, we pride ourselves on having a beautiful property.

This review was from 2008 and we have made quite a few changes here, almost all of our previous guests problems have been remedied. We are are under new management, and we have a new owner. We strive to make sure al of our guests have the best experience possible.

There are many fans on-site if you require more then the standard ceiling fan, as well as on-site management to help you with anything else you should need during your stay with us.

There are now mosquito nets on all of our beds.

During this guests stay, Casa Colibri (our common sapce) was not avaliable to all of our guests. It has an excellent view, and an amazing ocean breeze, as well as plenty of shade. Many of our guests spend their time in the day (when it is so hot) in the common room, and it is anything but stuffy and hot (see pictures!)

We would like to say from Troncones Point Surf Club, we have looked at multiple options in waste treatment, and for our area composting toilets are the only way to be truly eco-friendly. Our composting toilets are cleaned inside on a constant basis, and are not unclean. They are cleaned outside daily. sometimes more then once.

We are not near the pricing of Inn at Manzanillo, you will pay less then half and you will get a kitchen to cook in, an onsite chef, two wonderful guides to take you where you would like to go, and affordable prices for food, drinks, and lodgings.

This location is so close to the beach. It's a very safe and great place for surfing. There are plenty of safe eateries within walking distance. The facility is clean and the sleeping areas are very comfortable. All the staff are very friendly and do an excellent job of accomidating all of our needs.
