“Paradise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2010

My husband and I had an amazing stay at the Inn at Manzanillo Bay. This 2 week holiday was our wedding/honeymoon, and it was perfect! First of all, the location is incredible - your own little paradise with a gorgeous beach that's practically empty! The Inn itself is beautiful as well - we were in a bungalow and loved it. Winn and Michael are great, and the rest of the staff are friendly and helpful. Also loved the live music on "Tequilla Tuesday". Would definitely return....maybe a future anniversary?

This was our second stay at the Inn, and while the setting and view were as impressive as earlier, the accomodations were much brighter and and more inviting. It 'was so relaxing sitting on our patio enjoying the Bay or venturing to the common area just above the sand. The restaurant serves very good food and other venues are within a few hundred yards. We particularly liked taking the 2 mile beach walk to Troncones and exploring there. We immediately made reservations for our next winter trip upon returning home.

It is interesting reading the whole gamut of Trip Advisor reviews. When we travel to a nearby city like Portland, Oregon, we always book a 4 Star Hotel with air conditioning, workout room, etc.. If that is what you want, look in Ixtapa. We love the Inn at Manzanillo Bay for the tropical, less commercial atmosphere...yet we have all the amenities. We love hearing the ocean at night, and we certainly would not want a totally enclosed bungalow. Our plane arrives early evening and we know that when we arrive late at the Inn at Manzanillo Bay we will have a lovely, clean, artistic bungalow, beautiful grounds and surroundings, along with great food and drinks which together make us immediately happy to be at our home in Mexico.

We just completed a 10 day stay @ the Inn at Manzanillo Bay (2/9 to 2/18 2010) and can recommend it without reservation to nearly anyone. The property is gorgeous, the beach bungalow we stayed in (#7) was neat and clean, the individual porches with hammocks are fantastic, the food was good, the pool was a welcome relief, the beach was top notch, and the entire staff was courteous and professional, what more can I say!

The Inn offers an intimate yet private setting that appears to attract particularly friendly guests. We enjoyed meeting a lot of the other guests and chatting/socializing with them. Yet, when we wanted privacy, we had no problem finding it.

This part of Mexico is a little unpolished by American standards. While the Inn is clearly up to "American standards," the town and surrounding areas are a bit rustic and remote. I'm not sure that this location would be suitable for the "Game-Boy and Twitter" set of children. On the other hand, if your kids are outdoor types and enjoy the beach and pool, this could be a great place for them as well.

The place definitely "shuts down" by 9:30/10 PM. If you need a night-life or disco scene, go to Acapulco. However, if you want an off-beat, relaxing, slow paced, out-of-the-way vacation, definitely consider this place. We're certainly going back!

My Family and I just returned from our 6th trip to the Inn at Manzanillo Bay in Troncones.
We had another amazing trip and a wonderful stay at the Inn. Every time we return home I am back on the computer searching for airfare so we can plan our next trip down.
Michael, Winn and the entire staff are always so helpful and accommodating. Winn and Michael have become like family to us and we look forward to seeing them every time we go down.

The location of the Inn is perfect. It sits in the most beautiful little spot nestled between the warm ocean and the tropical jungle. The "bay" is a hidden slice of heaven. I cant describe how beautiful this location is...words do not do it justice. Every morning we would get our "surfers breakfast" and smoothies and sit at the tables down on the beach. It was such a wonderful way to start the day...we would then end our day back down at those tables with a beer or a margarita.

It truly is a magically place that keeps calling my family and I back year after year.

We cant wait to go back....hopefull in April...fingers and toes crossed.

I always check out the web this time of the year to get that warm toasty, tropical feeling from our cold, harsh New York winters. When I read the negative reviews of one of my favorite places in Mexico, I felt I just ad to write. April was our third trip to the Zih/Troncones area. The first was 2004 followed by 2006 and then 2008. The first trip was with our two high school age sons. It was pure adventure with side trips to restaurants in Zihuatenejo, and up north to surf La Saladita and the Ranch. There is nothing better than paddling out and catching some good waves with your sons; wil you know your friends are freezing at home. Second trip kids again, and another cople with mor kids. Still great. Lots of waves and lots of laughs, a panga trip, and some great memories and food. Add to this a pretty good cultural experience for everyone.
If you are looking for Cacun or Ixtapa don't go there. If you need a sterile environment, where a three foot Iguana is going to freak you out, don't go there. If you don't want the best tasting Margarita on the Pacific coast of Mexico don't go there. If you want to surf crowded waves don't go there. If you want some aloof hotel manager kissing your a**, and not sitting down at your table having a drink and being hospitable don't go there. Mike the owner, Winn the manager, Valentino, Cristal were all fantastic hosts. There are always people who expect something else, by all means don't go there.
The only thing that keeps my family from going back all the time is the flight schedule. From New York the airlines don't have a direct and you can always count on Continental to screw things up. It actually took us less time to get to Hawaii, than ZIH.
Oh yeah, third trip, no kids. We had the room over the shops 2 nights, but then the point palapa the rest of the time. As usual a great time, met some nice couples from the left coast and no kids........................................

My husband and I went with a group of friends and we can't wait to return! The beach-front property is beautiful and the restaurant is delicious. Don't miss the killer margaritas, fish tacos, and grilled lobster! I loved that each bungalow has it's own porch and hammock!

Don't leave without taking home a bottle of their very own Big Boy Tequila! :)

My husband and I have been to the Inn at Manzanillo Bay several times, with family, friends or just us. This time, it was just the two of us- a much needed get-away!. We stayed in a bungalow (always have). Each bungalow has a little patio and we love to sit or swing on the hammock and couches, book in one hand, beer in the other! The rooms are clean and each time we go we notice a new upgrade. The staff was very friendly but respected our privacy. The property is gorgeous, well-maintained with tropical plants bordering the pool. We don't surf so we like the fact that we can go to the pool if we just want to float and paddle or to the beach if we want to play in the waves or bodysurf. We like to get up early in the morning, go get our coffee and sit down by the beach watching the sun rise over the mountain. The food is outstanding- we have never had anything we don't like. The owner is a culinary school graduate and the food reflects that. They have some of the traditional Mexican foods but also several other choices, like steak and chicken dishes. The waffles at breakfast are delicious! We love the shrimp tacos, too. You can see the ocean from most seats in the restaurant so no matter where you are on the property you can see the water. The beach itself is perfect for walking up and down. Basically, it's just a great place to relax, away from the crowds in the bigger areas. I read 4 books while I was there, walked on the beach, and just enjoyed the sun and tranquility. We are already planning another trip for next February with friends!
