“Would Like to Return”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2010

I stayed with my husband and another couple at the Inn at Manzanillo Bay in Troncones, and we agreed it was a great value. The food at the restaurant was delicious (don't miss the camarones flameado), the beach is a lovely curve of waves and sparsely populated, and the staff helpful. The property is well maintained with a nice pool. We stayed in the two a/c rooms with patios recently renovated near the dining area and were quite happy, although on our last night there was a problem with hot water. If you don't have hot water in the morning, say something right away. I thought the hot water would come on later in the day, but when I realized it wouldn't and said something, they said it couldn't be fixed until the next morning (we were leaving). Thankfully, we could shower at our friends' next door. A guest invited us for a quick look inside her bungalow, which seemed very nice and where she had a patio looking out to the ocean. The surfing at the point break right outside the hotel looked great but was a little big for my skill, so I spent every day surfing north at another beach. The surf shop had a good selection of surfboards to rent. The property is quiet, usually 20 people or so maximum, and it seems quite a few people living or visiting Troncones end up coming for a meal at the restaurant. All in all, a stay at this Inn is definitely worth it.

Manzanillo Bay Inn is a definite "must visit" if you're in the Troncones area. At the very least, dine at the restaurant. The girlfriend and I stayed there for a week filled with great food, great surf, sunsets, and peaceful relaxation. Don't miss the sea turtle hatching next door.

The break out front is basically your own private wave. There are more breaks further north if the point isn't working. If you want to step out of this peaceful gem into authentic Mexico, just walk down the dirt road to Troncones where you can get inexpensive and delicious local meals.

I would definitely return for a second visit.

We lived in Morelia, Michoican 2006-2007 and drove four hours to Troncones 4 times with our two dogs. Troncones is my favorite place to go to.

Picked Troncones because of all the dog friendly places to stay. Love the area, Manzanillo Beach, and the places to stay. 35 mins away from Ixtapa if you desire glitter, night life and Cancun atmosphere, a change of pace.

Stayed at both Casa Manzanillo and The Inn at Manzanillo Bay. Both great places to kick back and relax. Both Staffs are super accomodating.

Our first stay was at The INN. The first night was a disaster. Some type of ocean parasite infected my legs from the knees down. By midnight they were itching so bad i stood in the middle of the room and scratched until they bled, alcohol, benadryl, nothing would stop the maddening itching. . At the same time the misquitoes were attacking me, there are no screens. When i finally got into bed there were mosquitoes inside the netting. After a terrible night with no sleep, as we arose in the morning my wife sat up , hit the over head bed lamp which came crashing down and broke in the bed.

I was furious and immediately saw the manager and wanted a refund which he had no problem granting. I went back to my wife and said, lets have breakfast, cool off, and rethink our situation. Fortunately I cooled off and we stayed their the rest of our vacation which we thoroughly enjoyed and went back three more times.

As far as the itchy legs when leaving the ocean I either went in the fresh water pool or immediately took a soapy shower . At night we tucked the netting all around the mattress which took care of and mosquitoes, just don't have your butt touching the net. The next night was completely different and we easily fell asleep the the sound of crashing waves

All the staff are wonderful and accomodating at both places we stayed

Good place to explore the beach, read, sleep to the sound of crashing waves, eat drink, sleep some more. Our dogs loved the place and could run the beach from one end to the other, exploring every tidal pool. In the morning I'd open the door and they'd tear out to check the beach. Only thing to watch out for are the wild burros which the town dogs torment and will kick if one gets near.

I prefer the food at The Inn as Casa a bit pricey and more gourmet, but food at both places excellent. The Inn makes die for Bar-B Q ribs. Breakfast comes with at Casa and is good. Never had a bad meal at the Inn

Plenty of other good places to eat on the strip. Nothing fancy but great sea food and local dishes., we could bring the dogs everywhere, they just laid down under the table ( no restaurant inspectors) , and there are friendly beach dogs that come up to your table.

If you stay at the Inn get a palapa away from the restaurant as sometimes their can be a bar crowd, but it usually quiets down by 10:00

Casa has their own cat and dogs that roam the premises.

Casa has air conditioning. Inn didn't when we were their. . By May you appreciate a/c. You sleep under mosquitoe netting at the Inn in Palapas (round thatched huts with bath rooms .

Rooms at Casa large especially the bath rooms and a more like a regular hotel room with balcony and screened sliders

I'd go tomorrow if i could take the dogs.

Width of beach is 50 yds unlike Cancun and Cozamel. Very gradual slope and sandy all the way. Little undertow. Smooth sand bottom with few rocks

Yet out on the point one of the best surfing area in the world

Night life consists of going into the town of Troncones and watching night volley ball.

It's a one store, one gas pump fishing village

great place for families and there were plenty of children. No need to speak Spanish as most of staff fluent in English and all of the guests were non Mexican, and from all parts of the world

We stayed here for 5 nights and had a wonderful time. If you're looking for the Four Seasons this is not it. Our rooms were very clean as was the property. The staff were constantly working on the pool and the surrounding grounds. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The food was outstanding. If you're looking for a getaway where there are no phones or televisions this is the place for you. I felt like I was in a Corona beer commercial.

We stayed at Manzanillo a few years ago, and had a tremendous experience. The staff was great, food was always tasty (awesome guac), and the margaritas were the best I've ever had (to this day!).

The only downside is that there's no town nearby to explore, but that's nothing new for a vacation in Latin America... You're usually confined to your resort for one reason or another (in Jamaica, it's safety, in the Dominican, it's safety, here, it's just remoteness).

So, if you've got good company, enjoy good food, and just want to relax, this is the place for you.

Wow! We stayed down there for 4 nights and had a great time. The food was excellent, the service was great and the rooms were clean. The scenery was beautiful and looked exactly like the pictures. The surf was killer too. The only part that sucked was coming home.

My husband and I read all the reviews in Trip Advisor and the negative ones gave us pause, but thinking "there's ALWAYS someone who has to complain" we went ahead and booked. Happily we turned out to be right. To give you an idea of whether or not we have discerning tastes, I'll add that we've traveled fairly extensively and have experienced every category of accommodation from 3rd world to 5-star. So we feel perfectly qualified to tell you that the Inn at Manzanillo Bay delivered. Totally. Located on a beautiful beach with a killer break, with spotless bungalows, a heavenly pool, an oasis-like garden, warm and friendly staff (Randall and Winn in particular) and outstanding service, we couldn't have been happier. We can only imagine that those who have posted a negative review must've have had an extraordinarily isolated experience or perhaps had unrealistic expections. We would absolutely recommend to others looking for a Mexico getaway, Ask for bungalow # 1 or # 8. They're ocean front!
