We stayed here Sept3-10 2005, and we loved it. Sayulita is a cute little town that is still the real Mexico. Aurinko is local-owned, local-operated and very homey. Daily maid service, fully-stocked kitchen (in terms of cooking supplies), purified water, and warm baths. Did I mention that it is very very clean and well-kept? 1 block to the beach - about a 2 minute walk and you're on the sand. Nazario (the owner) is a very nice man who cares about Sayulita, and also operates surfshops and board/umbrella rentals on the beach. Across the street from Aurinko is the neighborhood grocery store, and walking distance (5 minute walk) are all the restaurants. Fresh seafood everywhere since this is a fishing village. I'd do Sayulita again - don't even bother with Puerto Vallarta. But you should be warned -- this is dirt roads, no TVs, not a lot of shopping. If you want glossy American style, stay in the touristy cities. If you want real surf & sand Mexico style, go to Sayulita.
