“Nice and clean hotel, charming staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

We stayed three nights in Le Colombier in order to explore the Gorges: the rooms are simple but very clean. The location of the hotel is ideal for day trips to the Gorges. The breakfast is of an excellent quality, served on a nice terrace with a beautiful view. The owners of the hotel are very kind and help out with useful advices. We enjoyed our stay!

After reading the reviews about this hotel it seems to me that maybe we didn't stay in the same hotel.
I define it as an OK 3* hotel but not more then that.

We stayed there for three night on our trip in Provence.
The location of the hotel is not in Moustiers Sainte-Marie, it is on the other side of the road and you have to take a car or climb to the village.

Since it is located close to the highway, there is almost nothing around it.
No restaurants, no coffee places no grocery shop.
You have to drive up to the village where there is always a parking problem.
We a room facing the road and it is very convenient with the car parking almost at the door.
The room was very small and it was hard to move there. We had little porch so we could stay out side but we had no view.
The bathroom was extremely small with not even one shelf to put the toothbrush.
It was very clean and the bed was OK
The breakfast was an ordinary breakfast, nothing special.
The stuff is very friendly and helpful.
On the whole I recommend this hotel for a short stay on the way, not to a place for a longer stay.

Excellent location, very peaceful, serene, and great views. This hotel is very close to the center of town and has so much to offer, many ammenities, from swimming pool, tennis court, food, and very helpful, gracious and welcoming staff who went out of their way to welcome us and make us feel at home. This is a very charming hotel. A must stay when in Moustiers Ste. Marie, and surrounding areas, as well as to explore the Gorge du Verdon. We have already recommended to family and friends. We would stay here again and again. Very much a highlight of our trip in France. The Village itself was also exceptional, one of the most beautiful we have seen. A must see! The town itself is breathtaking, filled with local art, crafts and great food. A great place to get away, be inspired, relax, hike, bike, and explore.

My wife and I were here for two nights during our three-week exploration of the Var and the Cotes d’Azure. It was one of the most pleasant hotels we had on our trip, and we certainly recommend it.

Le Columbier is located on the outskirts of town and although this requires a drive to most restaurants and to visit the town itself, it is still a very nice location with many rooms having views over the beautiful Var countryside. Another advantage is that there is ample free parking.

Our room (#42) was on the main floor but since the hotel is built on a slope, it was actually the upper floor with a little balcony where we could enjoy afternoon wine looking over the green fields. The room was good-sized and very comfortable, simply yet stylishly decorated in modern grey tones. There was a comfortable double bed, desk, two night stands, and a built-in closet with plenty of storage space and a small safe. No small refrigerator or mini-bar. The included wifi worked very well.

A nice feature was that the bathroom and toilet were in separate rooms. The bathroom was attractive, adequate sized and had a very pleasant shower.

We did not eat breakfast at the hotel, but the area where it was served was just off the spacious lobby and looked very pleasant. By the way, one of the best meals of our trip was a short drive away at Clos St. Cecile. Inventive food, beautiful location, excellent service.

The staff at Le Columbier was very friendly and helpful with dinner reservations and information about the area.

We visited lac de Sainte-Croix and gorges de Verdon about a week ago and stayed at Le Colombier, which is about 10 minutes drive to the lake. The hotel is a fantastic place for vacation and we particularly enjoyed the Jacuzzi! We stayed in a room on the second floor that has a balcony overlooking the beautiful mountains. The hosts were super friendly and helpful! They helped us with restaurant recommendations and reservations, and provided us free maps and great tips for the scenic drive along the gorge. The hotel is 10 minutes walk to the town center of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, believed to be one of the most beautiful towns in France, so you won't be bored. Strongly recommend!

Room Tip: ask for a room with balcony

Went there for a long WE with our 2 last teens to discover the Verdon river and the local canyons. Le colombier is a family hotel that was unique in term of hospitality. We quickly had the impression we were part of the family. All advices to prepare for the trecks were spot on. Very good advices as well on the local restaurant selection. I am picky in a way if you look at my history here but this is probably the first time I have no remark. Maybe one though. Decoration is a bit old fashioned and would gain of a little refreshment. But certainly not a critic. Overall, one of the best place I have ever stayed and certainly the best valuer for money I have seen since I write reports on my travels.
