“What a Wonderful B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

We were given a stay at Herman Hill with a Couples Massage as an anniversary gift. What a wonderful gift it was. We were in the Vidal room and it had every amenity a B&B should have. We had a see through fireplace, a huge king-sized bed, a steam shower, a double-size Jacuzzi bath and heated towel racks. We were greeted with a "welcome snack" of warm breads, cheese slices and dips and glasses of wine. Our bedtime snack was a small sundae and enormous heart-shaped cookies. Our room had a small patio and rock garden with a propane fire pit. It was cool in the evening and after dinner we took our wine glasses and sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful evening because we had the warmth of the fire pit. Breakfast was outstanding. The staff made us feel very special and welcome both by what they said and by how they treated us. They made us feel like they were very glad we were there. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the local wineries and the Vintage Restaurant at Stone Hill. We were there on a gift this time but we will definitely go back.

Room Tip: Our room, the Vidal, was on the lowest level but ours was the only room that opened onto the grounds...

Thank you for your detailed posting about your recent stay in the Vidal room. Like you, our Seyval and Vidal guests love the fire tables and opportunity to spend a quiet evening on their patio surrounded by our Norton grape vineyard. Vidal was the first room that we added a steam shower and now all of our rooms at both the Inn and Village have steam showers.

We look forward to your next stay and again thank you for posting these wonderful comments.

I brought my wife to Hermann Hill for our 10 year wedding anniversary. From the moment I called to make reservations to the time we left my "expectation bar" continued to be raised. It is very clear the owners put their soul into this and pay attention to details. I won't tell you what details in this review as it would ruin your surprise, but it was near perfect. We had a wonderful time and we will be back. Thanks for making our 10th anniversary so memorable.

Thank you for spending your tenth anniversary with us. June 7 was Peggy and my 44th anniversary and we especially love it when couples make Hermann Hill their anniversary celebration location. On a recent June night delivering cookies and ice cream I said "happy anniversary" as I left the cookies outside our guest's door for six our of eight rooms!

If you ask us to describe in one sentence what we do in our lodging and weddings our standard answer is "It's all about couples." That is our passion.

Thanks again for pointing out how important we think anniversaries are at Hermann Hill.

We stayed in Cottage #302. The room was amazing, the view awesome. It had a see through fireplace, hottub, jacuzzi tub, steam shower, heated towel rack (Loved this). The ktichen area was nice and to find breafast for each day, cookies, juice, water and cola in the fridge was a great bonus. Although the price is a little steep the property, room and view made it all worth it. Being on side and within steps of the wedding we were attending was nice as well. Take the time and watch the sunset and check out the gazebo area. Also has a nice grill and patio with two entry doors to obtain access.

Thank you for your recent stay in Cottage 302 and especially for your posting comments about the views and amenities you discovered. "River bluff cottage" can mean different things to different people but by building our cottages literally on the bluff's edge our guests frequently describe seeing both a sunrise and a sunset! As you indicated the Gazebo area is just a short walk from the cottages and also affords outstanding sunset photo opportunities. It's obviously also the choice of many of our brides and grooms for a romantic "dip" photo with the sunset over the Missouri River in the background.

Thanks again for your great comments.

This was our second time staying at this B&B. It's quite expensive, but this is one of the best in Hermann, for sure. It's a terrific place to relax, unwind and enjoy each other. We stayed in the Port room, and it was lovely. It had a King size sleigh bed that faced windows overlooking Herman. The bathroom had a jetted, jacuzzi tub and a separate steam shower. The attention to details is impressive at this place. There was a thunderstorm the night we stayed, and we were treated to quite a lightning show out the windows. The breakfast was very good and filled us up enough to ride our bikes 20 miles on the Katy Trail before heading back home. Overall, this B&B is first class.

Thank you for returning to Hermann Hill and for posting your nice comments and particularly for mentioning your biking 20 miles on the KATY Trail. For the first 14 of the eighteen years we were in business biking on the KATY Trail was somewhat of a challenge because the Missouri River Bridge was very old, narrow, and not biker friendly. With the construction of the new bridge many of our guests leave their vehicle at the Inn or River bluff Cottage and use the new bridge's protected hiking and biking lane to ride from Hermann to the KATY Trail. Doing this certainly adds another dimension to their KATY Trail experience. We also have bike storage at both properties.

Thanks again for posting on Trip Advisor.

My wife and I needed a relaxing getaway and decided upon Hermann Hill because of the wonderful reviews. We waited until the week before we wanted to go to Hermann Hill and were able to get a last-minute deal with them. We stayed for 3 nights. It was SO relaxing!

We stayed in one of the cottage suites and were very glad we chose it. The Inn was beautiful, but we wanted more exclusivity. The suite was just beautiful, laid out so well and was incredibly roomy! Everything was spotless and decorated very homey. The kitchen was great to have, so we could prepare our own meals, although we didn't have to cook as much as expected, since they provide breakfast and some other pre-cooked snacks in the frig! And cookies, ice cream, and soda as well! Note that there isn't an oven. We brought some items that needed an oven and didn't realize there wasn't one until we got there. Learn from our mistake!

The hot tub was amazing, and the view off the deck was great. You could see far down the Missouri River, and the train tracks were right below the deck (but far down). Strangely enough, trains really only went by at night. They were decently loud, but they didn't disturb my wife or I too bad. We use a box fan at night, so we didn't hear it much anyway.

We took one jaunt into town one of the evenings but didn't find much to do. Not too many shops or anything. But we really just went to relax in the room and watch movies and read anyway, so that wasn't a big deal to us.

Overall, the trip was just amazing. We definitely hope to return at some point!

Room Tip: Cottage Suites are more secluded and exclusive than the Inn.

Thank you for your wonderful comments in your post about your three night stay in one of our river bluff cottages. We are also pleased that you took advantage of your private hot tub and enjoyed the incredible sunrises and sunsets from your tub. I also appreciate you reminding future guests that our cottages have microwave ovens and outdoor gas grills but no conventional oven or cooktop.

Thanks again for your post. We look forward to your next Hermann Hill.

My wife and I went to Hermann Hill for our twentieth wedding anniversary. The weather outside was cold and dreary and we could not have cared less. It was warm in the Jacuzzi and the staff was sunny. From the second you get out of your car to the last glace back, this place is special. The food is wonderful, the staff is professional and caring, the view is spectacular, and the amenities in the rooms are the best!

We are going back next year!!

Room Tip: All the rooms are great!

Thank you for celebrating your 20th anniversary with us and for posting such gracious comments about our staff. While passion is sometimes an overused word I'm pleased that you share our belief that our staff genuinely enjoys making our guests happy. It's what makes the Hermann Hill culture so unique.

What an amazing time my husband and I had at the cottages at Hermann Hill!! We stayed in the Captains Heckmann Suite, upper level. I loved the gorgeous textured concrete floors! They were heated, OMG. The kitchen was beautiful, and was stocked with muffins, bread & butter, egg casseroles, breakfast pastries (my favorite), cookies, special raspberry chocolate sauce, ice cream, sodas, water, waffle mix (LOVED), coffee, and MORE! I felt like I was at a home away from home.

There was a see-through fireplace in the living room and bedroom. TWO TVs, books, DVD player, and stereo. The bed was super comfy, and the provided ear plugs completely drowned out the noise from the train. At first, I thought, oh boy, we are super close to the train tracks, but by the end of the stay, I was loving the train noise! I reminded me of a toy train running around a fantasy village! I didn't hear any train whistles, so maybe that's why it didn't bother me so much.

The outdoor hot tub was very clean and oh so nice. It was nice to feel the breeze and to watch the birds playing in the trees outside off the deck.

We loved the indoor HUGE jacuzzi tub! I cannot believe it had colored changing lights! Super romantic. My husband loved the steam and rain shower so much that we want to get one for home.

We had such a great time that we plan to go back VERY soon, maybe in the next month or so. We made so many wonderful memories in this town.

Thank you for pampering us!!

"Wow" is right. What a great review! Thank you for detailing so many of our cottage amenities so that other guests understand what will be available to them. Our staff always likes hearing about our strict cleanliness standards. We change the outdoor hot tub water with each departing guest and refill it with hot water so you always get totally clean when upon arrival that should be ready for your immediate use.
We keep adding more breakfast choices and other amenities for our cottage guests and promise you that we'll maintain our commitment to continuous improvement. Our entire Hermann Hill staff looks forward to your next return and again thanks you for such a fantastic Trip Advisor review.
