What more do you need for a one night stay near the airport? Shampoo and soap that smell like creamsicles, that's what! At La Quinta, you get that. :)
When I arrived at the airport and called for the shuttle, the front desk rep said that I could either take a taxi, which LQ would pay for, or I could wait ten minutes until the shuttle driver came on duty, and then in a few minutes he would arrive to pick me up. I opted to wait, and it was less than fifteen minutes total before he came whizzing up in his shuttle van to get me. The shuttle driver was very friendly and welcoming, and had me at the hotel in no time at all.
Reception at the front desk was friendly and check in was quick and easy. I reserved the shuttle to head back to the airport in the morning and headed to my room. I was in town for less than twenty four hours on a dog transport mission, picking up puppy mill dogs destined to be killed because of their disabilities. A driver brought the two tiny dogs to me and the dogs spent the night in my room. La Quinta does not charge a deposit or extra fee for pets, which is very convenient for me, as a lot of my travel centers around picking up or delivering rescue dogs.
The room was spacious enough, but smaller than other LQ rooms I have stayed in. It was clean and well supplied with towels, extra pillows, and the convenience of a small fridge. I did not hear any airport noise during my stay, and the halls were generally quiet, as well.
I took the two little dogs that I was traveling with outside many times throughout the night and did not feel unsafe in the parking lot areas at any time. There is a Denny's next door to the hotel but I did not venture over to the restaurant. Instead, I ordered Imo's Pizza. Do it. You will not be disappointed!
After a quick checkout, some of the employees came outside to get a better look at the two little dogs that I was carrying back to Pennsylvania. They were very interested in hearing about the dogs' plight and in learning about the rescue effort that had been undertaken to bring the dogs to safety. I thought that was nice. The shuttle driver this time was a woman, and she also was interested in hearing about the dogs, and our pleasant conversation made the quick trip to the airport that much more enjoyable.
Overall, this is a perfect stopover if you need to be close to the airport. It's clean, convenient, the staff is friendly and outgoing, everything worked well in the room (all the lights, tv, wi-fi, plumbing), and LQ's indoor corridors always make me feel safer.
