“Nice modern rooms and good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2012

Nice modern rooms with trendy colors if you like that sort of thing. Did not like the rooms with no outside windows. Similar to an inside cabin on a cruise ship lighting wise. The pillows were to square and lumpy. The fan in the bathroom was so loud it was ridiculous. Also did not like how the room opened to an indoor pool which seemed very cool at first but then was actually loud because of all the activity echoing in the inside area. Staff were very friendly. Location not on the river but great location to all the tourist sites and main street shops. Free parking and wifi. Nice breakfast. Our heating didn't work in our room only the ac.

If you're in Hannibal to relive Mark Twain's past, then this motel is second to none. Everything but the cave is within 5 blocks, including the shore of the Mississippi River. We had a 3rd floor room facing the Mississippi...a super unobstructed view. There are also rooms on the sides and back of the motel facing either a dirt hill or a parking lot...an awful view. So make sure you pick the right room during reservationing.

The attractive pool area has a down-side. It is located in one of two indoor central atriums surrounded by rooms. Noise from late-evening kids playing in the pool echo throughout because there isn't any sound insulation around or above to speak of. To avoid this, ask for a room along the southern atrium, and again, facing the river...rooms on this side overlook an atrium with sofas, conference areas, etc...very quite in comparison.

On certain days the continental breakfast includes a unique round egg concoction with meats inside...a tasty surprise that shouldn't be missed.

The hotel in located very close to all the attractions and restaurants for you to walk to. The room was spacious with 2 queen beds. The heated indoor pool and spa was a bonus. The breakfast had a good choice of items. There is an elevator.

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs and away from the swimming pool area are quieter.

The location is good (very close to the tourist attractions) and bad (very close to the train tracks with horns sounding during the night). Other than the train noise, it was quiet. The front desk lady was quite helpful, giving us directions to the 2 restaurants that are open on Sunday nights in the off-season. We requested a flatter pillow than those in the room and she got that immediately. The room was reasonably spacious and comfortable. The sink and mirror are in the same room as the shower, so the mirror steams up and cannot be used by one person while the other is showering. The building is older, but has been renovated. The breakfast selections were not very extensive for a hotel in this price range. We assume that the price reflects the touristy nature of Hannibal.

We have stayed here three times now on travels from Kansas to South Bend, Indiana. The location is amazing - right on the bluffs overlooking the Misissippi River. The quaint and historic downtown of Mark Twain is right across the street. The rooms are large and clean, and the breakfast is fresh and hot. The staff is courteous and friendly. This is a place worth planning ahead to stay at durung your travels. We can't say enough good things about our stays

I have been here before and glad I stayed here again. The location is the best in town. You are within walking distance of all the sites and downtown bars and restaurants.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2011

This is a Best Western Plus. So the rooms are comfy with good beds a desk, microwave and more. The hotel is refurbished but the atrium still has a 60/70's look and feel. The pool and whirlpool are inviting though. As usual when staying along the Mississippi close to the railway, you can hear the train passing by at night when it is blowing its horn. For the rest the room is quiet enough for the road. The location is great having all the Mark Twain things you want to see next to it. Parking is also not a problem. Water pressure in the bathroom is (to) low, so expect a drizzle in stead of a real shower in the morning. Breakfast was nothing special but OK.
Good value for money.
