“Perfect for our situation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

Our family has stayed here 2 times in the past 3 yrs. We needed a separate vanity/sink area not located in the bathroom. We have elderly parents staying in our room and needed this accommodation to get everyone ready. It is hard to find this type of arrangement w/o staying in a suite. The sheets and towels are very soft. The room is very clean and smells fresh. This is a no smoking facility which is what we need. There is a very comfortable computer style chair for the desk. The front staff were very accommodating and friendly. The hot breakfast was well stocked and maintained throughout the breakfast hrs. The dining area was kept clean throughout the serving hrs. The room was bright and cheerful.

Room Tip: We always choose a room away from the gym and pool

This is a newer hotel and is heads above most of the dated Fairfield discount Marriotts around the country. Internet is fast, service is great, and breakfast is fine.

We stayed here instead of downtown St Louis at the recommendation of a St Louis cop that I work with. For being just outside the city it is safer and there is a much smaller chance of your car getting broken into. It is the nicest Fairfield that we have stayed at.

The Executive King room was large and included a sofa sleeper, a refrigerator and a microwave. My understanding is that it is the same price as a regular king but given out on a first come first serve basis.

Notes:
- Other reviews are right about AC in the room. Ours was turned on full cold and room was probably around 60F.
- FREE Internet was very fast. Speedtest.net rated it as a 6mb connection which is a bit above average compared to other Marriotts.
- We stayed on the 1st floor and could NOT smell the pool (room 139). In fact, we did not notice the smell at all so maybe the hotel has fixed this issue.
- Breakfast includes ample yogurts, bagels and cream cheese, cereal, juice, waffles, hard boiled eggs, pastries, and a couple disgusting hot selections.
- Fairfields have ridiculously soft beds. Some may like this but it hurts our backs. Pro or Con depends on your taste.

Issues:
- Pool was open even though website said it was closed for renovation. Call ahead to double check.
- Everything was good about breakfast except for the hot part. The fake scrambled eggs were soupy and the sausage was cheap.
- CHECK YOUR ALARM CLOCK! Housekeeping does not reset it between guests and the one in our room started blaring before 6am.

Overall it was a great stay though. Hotel is fantastic for a budget Marriott line and is convenient to the sites downtown. We went to the City Museum and the Magic House childrens' magic museum and both were fantastic.

Room Tip: Ask for the Executive King with the alarm clock reset.

We stayed here twice when driving up to Schaumburg, and the location was perfect. The first night we stayed here, we noticed a bad smell in the lobby, but our room was on the second floor, and there was no smell on the second floor. The check-in clerk remembered us from the week before. We got a first floor room, and the musky smell was still there if not worse. We were told no whirlpool because the steam caused false fire alarms. Fortunately, the smell didn't permeate into the room. About midnight we were jolted awake by the fire alarm. The night clerk apologized, and told us it was a false alarm and she couldn't turn it off until the fire truck arrived. We had this happen twice more during the night. The last two times, they didn't wait for the fire truck before turning off the alarm. The night clerk apologized but didn't offer us any compensation. We also complained to the day clerks, but they didn't seem to care. Their answer was "it happens."

The breakfast was good both times, and the breakfast attendant was superb.

Unfortunately, between the smell and the fire alarm, it's unlikely we'll return here.

Room Tip: If you stay here, ask for second floor, it didn't smell.

Staff nice and efficient but rooms were musty. This improved with the AC turned on. No obvious mold but I did Plug up which happens if mold or mildew present.Oddly enough there was a sign posted to report this. Breakfast area was not very attractive but served 3 hot items. Nothing in walking distance, need to drive for food, drinks, shopping (in an light industrial area)

Thank you for taking the time to share with us your comments and feedback regarding your most recent stay with us. I am so glad to hear that you found our rooms to be nice and efficient! And as you mentioned, we are in an industrial park so there is not anything within driving distance, however in just a couple short miles you can find just about anything and everything! I do apologize for your congestion caused by staying with us. I do believe sometimes the indoor pool can be quite strong depending on the temperatures and or humidity!

I do hope if in our area again, you'll stay with us again!
Take care,
Kelly Galloway

Stayed at the Fairfield Inn after a full day of site seeing at the St Louis Zoo and surrounding areas. The room and the bathroom were clean and pleasant. The indoor swimming pool was the cookie cutter Fairfield pool. The hot tub appears to be permanently closed. It is covered with a solid sheet of plywood. Our three year old enjoyed the the pool. Of in the area again we would stay here if the price was right.

We stayed at the Fairfield on a stopover for some site-seeing in and around St Louis. On our list of things to see were the Sculpture Park in Fenton and the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Kraus home in Kirkwood, so this location seemed convenient and affordable. We liked that there was no charge for parking and WiFi, and free breakfast. We were not interested in amenities like pool and fitness center although they were available on a small scale. We were pleasantly surprised to see how inviting the hotel was; simple, modern decor, exceptionally friendly staff. The bed linens were all white, even the top coverlet, which assured us that they were clean. No old school ugly printed bedspreads that make you wonder how many guests had used them. The bathroom was clean and functional. We walked on the carpet in bare feet and/or socks, which didn't get dirty. When we passed through St Louis again the following weekend we stayed here even though we intended to spend our time in the city. Will return here next time we are in the area.

Room Tip: Senior discount was better than AAA pricing.

I stayed here with my wife for a brief one night stay. The air was full blast when we checked in and the room temp was very cold. Not sure but would think it was about 60 or so. Room overall we OK. Housekeeping did a good job and seemed clean. The TV was a bit small and was on a stand that put it low compared to the bed. Made for a strained viewing angle when in bed. Did not stay for breakfast.
Overall not a bad Fairfield property. Good location for in and out of the city.

Thank you so much for taking the time to offer your honest feedback of your most recent stay with us at the Fairfield Inn Hotel in St. Louis-Fenton, MO. I am glad that you found your stay with us accommodating; your room clean and the location good for your needs. I apologize about the temperature of the room upon your arrival; we try to have the temperature of our guest rooms pleasing to our guests upon their arrival, however with St. Louis weather, sometimes it can be quite a chore to keep up with. I wish you did have time to take advantage of our new hot breakfast; we just implemented scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit salad and sausage! Next time your in our area, you can stay with us again!
Thankyou again!
Sincerely,
Kelly Galloway
