“Good Vibe when you make it”

Boat trip takes ages out to get here, up to you on what you are looking for too :)

I was lil darned with having to take a 5min boat trip out to snorkel.. but the rest pretty exciting talented entertainers and story of walking on hot hot rocks from the ancestors and demonstrators, nice but is different than Beachcomber island I have to say..

So this was our second island day tour booked, im big on being active etc.. drinks 'aren't comlimentary' which was a bother for the cheapies.. the help desk are very very helpful and can ring for getting you a dentist appointment booked near our stay at Raffles Gateway hotel the one with pool side for the kids.

Sth Sea Isnd Rocks my adventurous side with lil bit more in action for a day

We booked a full day on the island because it promised great swimming, snorkeling, food and entertainment.
The snorkeling was a waste of time, virtually no fish and only dead coral.
Swimming was a waste of time, dirty water and fish that kept attacking us. More fish in the swimming area than the snorkeling.Even the shower was a waste of time. You have to fill a bucket of cold water. Not even plumbing exists on this island.
Lunch was a waste of time. Spag meatballs? Really? Come on guys, we want better.
Entertainment during the day was a waste of time, very boring.

By the time the boat took the daytrippers back, I was very tempted to leave with them, but glad I hung around.

What a turn around.
All of a sudden entertainers came alive, fire dancing, hot rock walking, knife dancing. Lots of exotic costumes and heaps of energy.
Food was delicious too. The traditionally cooked meats and veg were just right.

So forget about the day trip and only do the evening.

Room Tip: We did not stay overnight, but would guess they are not very good.

My partner and I spent 2 nights at Robinson Crusoe Island and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience - we were very lucky to have great weather. We arrived on the Wednesday which was perfect as we were treated to the night time fire dance and cultural show which I LOVED! Snorkelling was not the best out on the reef but I think that was mostly due to the recent rain. We took the kayaks and paddled around the whole island.

We couldn't fault the food, it was delicious! And the staff were so friendly and great with the little kids.

We probably wouldnt' have liked to have spent much more time on the island though as there really wasn't a lot to do for adults but 2 nights was great and very relaxing.

If you are after a luxury resort, this is probably not for you. It is all about the real Fijian experience with no running water and no fans after midnight but for me it was a great way to share the cultural experience.

The one downside was the flash new water play equipment that cost $40 to use. We really coudn't justify spending that much unfortunately and it was surprising to see them sit there untouched. It would have been fantastic to give guests a chance to try them out or maybe even charge $10 which I would definitely pay.

All in all, a very memorable experience :-)

Room Tip: Our Burre was great but very hot once the power went out and we got eaten alive the first night...

Me and some friends went to this resort for four nights. It was quite an experience! The first night when we had arrived, it was a fire and dance show, it was amazing. We had booked a villa with a private bath room. Nice and clean room. The only bad thing about it was the water in the bath room, it wasn't working at all time. Other than that, our stay here was excellent. A lot of fun activities and a beautiful beach. The best thing about the Island is that you're alone. Basically, you have a whole island for yourself.

Room Tip: The villas were much nicer then the small cabins.

We spent around two months in Fiji towards the end of 2012 doing some diving courses. We kept putting off the island hopping for the Christmas period, but as luck would have it, Cyclone Evan paid Fiji a visit and basically destroyed our plans, together with most of Denerau and the neighbouring islands. Fuelled by desperation and not wanting to spend Christmas where we were (Seashell @ Momi) with rotting trees, dead herons and rotting coconuts, we decided to jump on the nearest boat to Robinson Crusoe Island for Christmas.

Upon arrival, you'd be greeted by a singing band on the beach. Our boat captain said they'd sometimes pretend to be cannibals and ambush the boat though that didn't happen, thankfully. I mean, there's only so much cheese I can stand. After a nice introduction to the amenities on the island, we were basically free to explore.

The island is nice and completely walkable. The crew did a really good job of cleaning up the island after the cyclone - thumbs up to them for that. You get to see daytime fruit bats, really pretty shells and crabs, if you're into that. I wish I could say there was more to do, but there wasn't, so we sat around and waited for the lunch buffet. They had really delicious bread rolls, roasted vegetables, a huge roasted pig, ham and assorted meat. Food was okay but wasn't quite worth the $50 per person we paid.

We wanted to go snorkelling after lunch and had told them when we got to the island but all the local staff somehow vanished after the meal. We had to ask the owner about it, and after he went to them, they came out just utterly disgruntled and clearly unhappy to be disturbed from their kava drinking in the back. So they reluctantly took us to the nearby reef to snorkel for over half an hour. The snorkelling wasn't even worth it.

All in all, it was a pretty 'blah' experience. Not the way I'd hoped to experience the other islands of Fiji, especially not during Christmas.
