Float trip

Such a happy place. They think of everything! Will be back again! Very kind people, food available, beds comfortable, so much fun! We had a view of the falls right off our deck. Tubes, kayaks, canoes, rafts all available for rental. Shuttle service. If we forgot it, they had it!

Fantastic place. Very clean, comfortable rooms. Engaged owners and staff. Bob's ribs are delicious. I don't do muddy rivers. With that being said, the river is clear and beautiful. We came here on a recommendation and have recommended this place to others. It is our "go to" place for canoeing.

The silverware in the kitchen drawers was all dirty. There were spider webs on the night lights and spiders in the bathroom. The beds were very uncomfortable and sloped toward the middle. For the prices they charge, I would at least expect a decent mattress and a clean cabin.

The Tree Top Hideaway is a couples retreat deep down in the Ozarks near the Mark Twain National Forest (Dora, MO). This is beautiful cabin built up on stilts up in the trees. There's a large deck and directly overlooks the North Fork river. You can sit on the porch and watch the deer, heron, kayakers, eagles go by. There's a nice Jacuzzi tub in the room. The bed was very comfortable. TV and DVD player but no cable or satellite. No phone. No cell service. Full kitchen - stove, microwave, fridge. We just brought all our groceries and never left the cabin for 2 days. Very relaxing. You do have to carry all your stuff up two long flights of stairs, so keep that in mind when packing. You can sign up for canoe trips floating down the river. There's a lodge and a restaurant (think summer camp style) but we didn't eat there. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. You'll have a good time.

We have done a family float trip the last 4 years on multiple rivers around the Ozarks. The North Fork is beautiful, and offers the most reliable water we have found. We are not campers, and desire nice, air conditioned cabins with showers and great layouts and views. ROLF gave us all this, plus a grill to cook out on, and firepits outside each cabin with chopped wood readily available. The cabins are very clean, with comfortable beds, and extra linens/blankets if needed.

The views from ROLF are spectacular, and access to the river could not be better. Myron and staff are extremely accommodating about educating which types of floats are available (3 mile floats on up to 12 mile floats). His delivery and pickup services is wonderful. Canoes, kayaks, and rafts all work great. They take care of everything.

We always save one night to not cook in our cabin so we can take advantage of the great cooking and hospitality of Bob, ROLFs cook/chef. Everything he makes is fantastic, and you can tell he loves what he does.

ROLF is very clear that they do not sell alcohol, and their store stocks only necessities. So, plan your meals. We have breakfast in our cabin because our kids are not early risers, but Bob's breakfasts look amazing. We make simple sandwiches and snacks for the river, bring our own beer, etc., and either grill out or have dinner at ROLF.

A final word about the general ROLF environment.....Myron, his wife, Bob, and everyone on staff we have every come in contact with are absolutely fantastic, accommodating, and as nice as anyone I have ever met. We love our conversations with them, and our kids, who are all teenagers and beyond now, look forward to this family trip each year.

We have floated the Niangua and Current, and our during our first Northfork River float, stayed at a different location with Cabins. We cannot imagine a better river, with better accommodations, with better hosts, than Myron and the ROLF team.

Room tip: Website doesn't have detailed cabin floorplan, so ask questions about sleeping arrangements and how rooms are laid out.

We went with another family we had 4 kids all together. We rented the largest highest and most expensive tree house. The tree house was very clean and nice had two hot tubs. Need to bring your own food which we did. Only down fall is no cell or Internet or tv service. I really don't think this is a problem but there is no way to contact anyone in case of an emergency. It is about 40 minutes until you get to a town too. Just something to think about. I think they should have an emergency phone somewhere on the property.
