“Great Service - Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

OK I am a Diamond so I expect good, no better than good, service at every hotel. This hotel did not disappoint. Free bottled water is a plus every day. Comfortable bed. Big soft towels. Large bathroom with a magnifying mirror (all hotels should have this). Good stay. Ritz Carlton passes.

Green Features: Sheet changes every other day. Towels replaced from the floor.

The Ritz-Carlton St Louis is an extremely poorly maintained and poorly managed hotel with average service. Being a Gold Marriott Rewards, Platinum Starwood Preferred Guest, Platinum Hyatt Gold Passport and a Silver Hilton HHonors member, I stay in hotels many nights each year for my heavy business travel schedule. I have stayed at a number of great hotels, many average hotels and a few poor hotels. Despite the Ritz-Carlton brand, the Ritz-Carlton St Louis does not embody the Ritz-Carlton brand promise and, based on my first-hand experience, is a poor hotel.

Based on my stay, I would neither stay at this hotel (or another Ritz-Carlton property) again nor would I recommend this property. There are better maintained and managed hotels in St Louis that offer a better overall experience than the Ritz-Carlton St Louis.

Successes:
+ accurate reservation (at least it had my Gold Marriott Rewards number)
+ pastry/baked foods (but most other food was only average)

Failures:
- Broken room toilet (flush lever broken)
- Soiled towels
- Room TV that works only half the time (black screen with audio)
- Fitness room with 3 treadmills, 3 ellipticals (of which 1 is out of order and 1 with a broken TV), 2 bikes (1 with a broken TV)
- "0" operator line and dialing the hotel external number is met with a busy signal during the day
- No newspaper delivered to your room in the morning unless you call to request it twice (if the operator tells you she'll find one and get it to you, don't believe her because she won't call you back)
- Lack of a prompt service escalation management protocol that should identify multiple issues for management the first time the guest reports them. Waiting until the guest reports the issue again is too late.

Room Tip: If you encounter a problem, report it immediately. It takes two reports until they actually fix anyt...

So enjoyed my stay at this hotel….everyone was so helpful and accommodating….had a nose bleed and the staff brought up a small jar of vaseline for me….no drug stores in the immediate area if you need supplies. Quiet, comfy beds, good food, good bar with great music makes for a great stay!

Checking in ( back in) this Ritz is really like coming home. It feels comfortable, right and familiar. The service is exceptional and consistent. The facility is great, the rooms comfortable well appointed and the service makes it all even better.

The room service is great- whether its a gourmet request, comfort food, or the kids menu, it is perfect.

Room Tip: The suites are fantastic- overlooking Clayton.

This Ritz Carlton is the best option for the area, as there aren't any other luxury hotels in the area. The hotel has age to it, but isn't worn down. Dark woods and classic Victorian decor fill the hotel. If looking for contemporary, this isn't the stop. Like all Ritz Carlton's, the service is excellent. This location has plenty to walk to: restaurants, shopping, salons, etc.

The room was very spacious with a balcony, I had booked just a standard room, and it fit my needs just fine. Again the room has an aged feel, but everything is still well maintained. The room met the standards of what I would expect from a Ritz Carlton.

The lounge wasn't the most lively spot to be in the evening, it seemed to have a crowd that was much older that my girlfriend and I (we're late 20's), there are more trendy spots within a short distance.

We stayed here and it is an amazing hotel. The service was 5 star and the food was excellent. We were greeted at the front desk by Jasmyn and she was very friendly and made check-in fast and simple. She also arranged for a car service to take us to Ruth's Chris and made a reservation as we did not have one. The hotel room was large and spacious. We stayed in the suite and the two rooms were very nice. The hotel bar was good and I normally do not complain about drinks but one thing I did notice that one small glass of top shelve liquor was 15 dollars, not bad but a little high for the Midwest which usually averages around 10-12$.
Overall this hotel was beautiful and the service was amazing and would recommend this if looking for a 5 star hotel in a nice area in St. Louis.

Wonderful Ritz property -- checked in - and while they may have been slow (winter weather) was upgrated to a suite -- an apartment really --- funishing were first class - decorating very stylish and tasteful. Everything worked - bathroom was enormous - appointments in each room very classy. Service at this location at the top of what you would expect from a RITZ -- every employee made you feel special -- very attentive to detail -- personable and would always inquire if there was anything they could do to improve or make perfect my stay. Had dinner at their fine dining restaurant, The Grill - same amazing and attentive service -- wine list on IPod - very helpful suggestions - food expertly prepared - and reasonably priced. Bar area very nice - which Sushi bar for snacks -- wait staff again excellent. Ritz deserving of it's moniker -- staying at the "Ritz" is like being in the estate home of a very rich uncle.
