Stayed here two separate nights during one week, while traveling north and south through St. Louis.
Pros: Friendly staff. Great food options - basically a full dinner every night, varying menu, alcohol options too if you want. Big suites with bedrooms separated by doors (the main reason I booked this hotel). Good prices. Plenty of parking. Seems to be a safe area with a ton of restaurants nearby. A Walgreens and a grocery store within a block. Good location if you are passing through St. Louis, but would be a bit of a drive to touristy sites if you were on vacation. Has a small pool that is private (ie you aren't overlooking a parking lot or highway). Has a small convenience store on site in case you forgot any necessities.
Cons: The first stay there, our room was about 80 degrees inside. We thought it might cool down after lowering the thermostat for a couple hours, but it didn't. We called to complain, they said they had no rooms to move us to. Sent a mechanic, all he did was change the air filter and said "that should fix it." Obviously, that did not fix it. Made it close to impossible to sleep. Front desk said "it's hot outside, so it's hard to keep the hotel cool" but the lobby was cold, the halls were cool, it was just our room. On our second stay, I showed up with baby in hand, only to have the front desk say "Didn't someone call or email you? We have overbooked and moved you to a different hotel." Needless to say, I was not having that (and no, no one had called or emailed me). The hotel they moved me to did not have suites, which was the ONLY reason I booked Homewood. They eventually said they would let me stay there and would try to move someone else out. While I understand hotels overbook all the time, the appropriate thing to do is CALL me beforehand to ask if I would be willing to switch. Not wait until I get there after a long drive with a baby and then tell me I have to get back in my car and drive elsewhere. Also, in both rooms, the floors were very dirty - we all had black feet from walking on the carpets. They need to deep clean the carpets in all areas. Other than that, the rooms were nice and spacious.
Overall I would stay there again, simply because the price is so low for a suite and the food options are nice. However I would probably make sure it wasn't during summer because I cannot stand being in a hot room, and I would make sure we all wear socks to keep our feet clean. These are problems that all hotels seem to have, so it's nothing horrible, just observations that Homewood might want to fix.
