“Pleasant Suprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

Visited September 2011 my wife and I from Australia went in search of the Phillips 66 Gas Station and were pleasantly suprised when we found a whole town built out side of Carthage Missouri. we spent an entire afternoon wandering around taking photos. and we had the pleasure of meeting Lowell Davis. Lovely man. this is a beautiful place to visit. no mulitudes of people very quiet. For us Aussies it was a Highlight of our trip.

“Great place to spend a peaceful hour exploring a recreated country town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2011

Lowell Davis still lives in the small community. There are many artistic details to the little town. They have a festival in the fall and have music and church service some days of the week. When we go though, we just walk around the loop drive and look at all the different houses. This place really is a gem. It is free, but they have a box for donations. It is very informal, which is what we like. You can drive around the loop drive and park and walk. There is usually nobody around. There are not many things to do at Red Oak except explore the grounds, look at all the restored buildings and watch the water fowl that live around the pond. We take all out-of-town guests to Red Oak because it is something different, especially for the Carthage area. The town is really an idealized country town, with an artistic flare.

“Great Sunday Service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2011

Very much enjoyed sunday services at the Red Oak II Chapel, 10:30am. Lots of gospel music and wonderful parishioners. Quaint little town with lots of character! You are bound to leave with a smile on your face after visiting here.
