2/28/13 - Based on the price, cleanliness and location, we chose the Days Inn in Cameron, MO. What we listened to was a lot of bantering going on between the staff and what appeared to be the manager. I was at one point offended at some of the things they were discussing. But again for the price, cleanliness, and location, we were impressed and decided to stay again on 3/14/13 (on our way home from our trip). I couldn't find my receipt from the 1st time we stayed, but when I mentioned to James, the manager, that I thought the stay was around $50-55 the first time we stayed, he became (though professional) a bit defensive. He said, "First the price (of $60) is very competitive and if I want to go to and price other hotels in the area, you'd find the Days Inn is more reasonable and second whoever gave you that price gave you the wrong rate". We stayed anyway. Upon checking out, I neglected to do a 2nd check in the room to be sure we weren't forgetting something, but we did--the puppy's play toy. I called the Days Inn that night to see if anyone found it. The gal I talked to checked and found it. She said she'd talk with James to see how it could be returned. When I talked with James he indicated it could be sent, but would need to be a COD (collect on delivery). He indicated he'd box it up and go to the post office right after work that day. I called again on 3/26 to see when it was sent and was told it hadn't been sent yet (because of a snow storm that happened the day before I called). I told James I found my receipt from our 1st stay and wondered if a correction could be made to match the 1st night's stay amount. He indicated he couldn't do it. On 4/1, I finally received the box. I was, of course, required to pay the COD charge of $18.98. Now here's the disturbing part, if I would have been told an amount and I sent a check to pre-pay the mailing it would have cost $13.30. Upon opening the box, I found not only the puppy's play toy, but someone else's reusable/insulated coffee cup that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. Now why would I get/want someone else's germ infested coffee cup. All total the additional cost to stay at your motel was $16.37. Granted a small amount, but probably too much to consider staying again. Rebecca Prickett

Thank you so much for letting us know about your stay! I'm sorry to hear not all aspects were up to your level of satisfaction. Yes, our crew is much like a family and I do believe a happy work place is a productive work place. However, I sincerely apoligize if anything we said offended you. As you stated, we are normally very good at keeping it professional. Regarding the rates; I'm sorry you felt the savings you received were not adequate enough when counting in the postage of us returning your lost possession. I am also deeply sorry you could not receive a portion of payment back after over a week had past to match a previous stay. I do not remember ever requesting a guest to drive around and check rates. I do however confidently state that our price is the best in town for the amenities we offer. While rates may rise or lower slightly, we always remain competitive. Booking in advance offers the advantage of knowing your rate before you arrive and booking over 30 days in advance also offers a discount. In regards to lost or stolen articles; I strive very hard to get everyone their things in a timely manner. However if I drove to the post office every day someone forgot something I would practically live there. I put out my own money to get it there often times not receiving it back. Upon check in you sign a folio with our policies on it. It states we are not responsible for lost or stolen articles. But I know how it feels to leave something behind and try VERY hard to get everyone back the lost articles of their journey. It may not always get there right when you want it but I WILL get it there. As for the mix up with the cup; we were under the impression it was yours. It was clearly not intentional and our intentions were good. I'm sorry you received something that wasn't yours along with something that was. We at Cameron Days Inn will continue to do all we can for our guests and I am happy you were pleased with our cleanliness and location. Again, thank you for choosing Cameron Days Inn and we hope to have another chance to have your business.
