We are serious National Hunt fans, so for us a day at the races is about the ability to actually SEE the racing, plus toilet and snack facilities. We don't go to spend the afternoon in a bar with a telly (and then go home saying 'We went to the Races !!), so I'm not able to comment on the non-racing aspects of Ffos Las.
The viewing is excellent, even though somewhat featureless as it is VERY flat ! (reclaimed open-cast mining area). There are no outbuildings, screens or undulations, so you can follow the entire race with ease from the ordinary stands and steps.
The car park is hard standing, which given the Welsh deluge we had (of course !!), was reassuring to say the least. The attendant at the entry point welcomed us on arrival - despite being soaking wet and hatless (it was ok earlier that day . . .), and then promptly spoke to us again, clearly remembering us, as we left after the last ! Incredible, and left us with a very pleasant final memory of the racecourse, although the horses didn't . . . !!
Incidentally, if you need an overnight stay, DO try the Premier Inn at LLanelli Central East.
