The female staff member who checked us in, as well as the one who was on duty in the evening were wonderful and quite accomodating.

The rooms and some of the hotel policies, though are in need of "repair." Some of the rooms are extremely dirty and unkempt. The 1st room we had (Rm. 105) had a very dirty sofa & carpet and had not been cleaned well before we were given keys to the room. However, when we asked for another room, the front staff gave us one on the 2nd flr (Rm. 206) which was cleaner and much larger. Still the sofa could have been cleaner, but a comforter was in the closet so I was able to use it as "throw" to cover the sofa.

Also, while we were there it was homecoming weekend so there were a # of young people (and women who appeared to be "ladies of the night." on site). The hotel policy allows room rental to 18 yr. olds. We had to evacuate the hotel twice due to fire alarms, The 2nd one (about 12:30 a.m.) was because of the youth playing w/the fire alarm; the 1st (at 10:00p.m) was a guest who burnt popcorn in the microwave. These disturbances interrupted our sleep and caused us to be a little tired on Sunday morning.

But w/all that said, I believe w/some TLC and more concern given to cleanliness, this facility would be much improved. After each guest, the room needs to undergo a through cleaning and disinfecting. The sofas need to be steam cleaned frequently to avoid staining; a new sofa mattress would be real nice too.

The manager was on duty when we checked out on Sunday; he apologized for the disturbances the night before and offered us a free night at any of the ExtendedStay properties; this was a nice gesture.

Because I had booked the rooms for my group, I was truly embarassed and disappointed by the whole experience, including the unkempt condition of the hotel and the two disturbances,

“Adequate for one night”

Stayed here for one night, because I was flying into St. Louis with my two teenage children and needed a place close to the airport. Although not a fancy place, it was adequate for us for one night. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We did not venture out because it was around 9 pm when we arrived and I did not feel comfortable being out & about. The room was clean, however the bathroom did have mold in the corners of the tub.

“Don't know why people complaint!”

I have no idea why people complain about this hotel when they are only paying way less than other hotels would, in the same area so close to the airport. We got our room for less than 35 dollars a night thru hotwire. We stayed there for the memorial day weekend trip to St. Louis, MO.

The room was well appointed for the price that you are paying for. Our room had a kitchenette, with a microwave and a refrigerator, coffee maker and a queen bed. Hey you are only paying less than 35 dollars for all that! Can't beat that price.

True, there are people who stay here on a longer basis as it is a extended stay hotel. We didn't encounter any problems during our stay here.

The only problem for us was to find the place the first time as you come south on Lindberg Blvd(US Hwy 67) coming off from I-70 West...this hotel is located on Lone Eagle Dr which is adjacent to the Crown Plaza Hotel and is located behind Embassy Suites hotel. The road sign is very small and very easy to miss....as we did the first time.

Our room was on the highway side, but there was hardly any noise from the highway as mentioned in an earlier post. The hotel also has a laundry room and vending machines. Plenty of restaurants to eat nearby including TGIF within walking distance. Afterall, you are only paying less than 35 dollars and can't expect a fine dining restaurant in this hotel.

Coming North on Lindberg Blvd, you can't make a left turn on to Lone Eagle Dr as it is a divided highway. Go a few feet further north, take the I-70 West ramp onto I-70 and exit right away on Lindberg Blvd South and you can make a right on to Lone Eagle Dr, which is right by Crown Plaza.

True, the hotel's carpets were in need of a change, but don't complaint when you pay so much less...and use that extra pocket change for gas in your car! I have neutral opinions about the staff in the front desk....as you would expect this low level of service in a low priced extended stay hotel.

Our washroom was fine...no mold or stain noticed in the bath tub or the toilet bowl. The only problem was that, there was no exhaust fan in the washroom and stem would build up on the mirrors after a hot shower. Didn't bother us much!

They don't change towels or make beds everyday....only once in 7 days...I think....or you can request for a more frequent change. But you can always go to the front desk and ask for clean towels and they will provide you. We had enough towels already in our washroom for our 2 days stay. They don't provide a whole lot of toiletries either. Just 2 soaps and 2 rolls of toilet tissue.

Overall we were satisfied with our stay here at this Homestead hotel for the price we payed for and would consider to stay here in the future if the price still holds.

I cannot believe any review that would give this place anything higher than a 1 - Terrible rating.

I can accept that this is a 2 star hotel, that is why you only pay $45 a night to stay here, but what I found at this place would classify this hotel much lower than 2 stars.

This place is run like a half-way house. Many people live here permanently, which is fine, it is extended stay after all, but they are an unbearable nuisance to those just passing through. Doors slamming constantly, children screaming throughout the night, babies crying, adults yelling and slamming on the walls, cursing. I only stayed here for 2 nights and was afraid for my safety after the first night. The next day 3 police officers arrived at the room next to mine. There was a loud confrontation in which they were trying to evict someone for not paying the rent. Needless to say, she is still in the room next to me and I was woken up constantly by slamming doors and screams all night.

The condition of this hotel is deplorable, even for 2 stars. My bathtub tiles have black mold growing in several places. The drain is covered in lime scale. The building inside is in much need of repairs as well. In one place, outside of the elevator on the second floor, it looks as though someone got sick all over the carpet and the carpet was never properly cleaned. Besides that, there is trash all over the hallways, cigarette butts in the stair wells and piles of trash outside of the front entrance.

I should have known better when it took me over an hour to get someone to check me after hours. I was directed to the Nationwide number and was repeatedly told that someone would be with my soon. In the cold of winter, waiting in a cold holding room for an hour is totally unacceptable.

I will never NEVER stay at this hotel again and encourage everyone to do the same. Surely, there must be other 2 star hotels which do not offer the added inconvenience of being a homeless shelter.

We are locals who stayed at this hotel for several nights during the recent power outage. The staff seemed quite confused at first, having no rooms cleaned and ready until after 5 pm. I was finally given a horrible room down a filthy hall on the third floor, but since there was someone already living there, they changed us to a really nice room on the second floor. Considering the price, this room exceeded my expectations. There was no hair dryer, although one may have been available at the front desk. I was surprised that during my entire time at the Homestead, no one vacuumed the hall carpet which was new, but covered with salt particles (from the snow and ice), bits of paper, etc., and I never figured out where to put trash (being extended stay, rooms are serviced only once a week).
Like all cut-rate hotels, the Homestead has almost no employees. I had to call the front desk several times and more than once just got a message directing me to the national reservations site. The few employees I did encounter varied from surly to reasonably accommodating.
Bottom line, I would probably stay here again--for the price. You can walk to either of two different full-service hotel restaurants or TGI Fridays. Anything else you want is a short drive away.
