“I expect better from Marriott”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

We are loyal Marriott customers and have usually had very positive experiences at the many properties that we've stayed at over the years. Unfortunately, this one was an exception. Although, as others have noted, it's well located and reasonably new, it's also rather pricey. In addition we had a number of experiences that left us with very mixed feelings:

Our room was clean and comfortable and conveniently located near one of the side exits. However, the hotel was very busy when we were there and we could often hear people yelling in the hallways, both morning and evening. As far as we could tell, no effort was made by staff to control this behaviour, even though it was taking place just a few steps away from the reception desk.

On another occasion, we returned to our room in the evening to find that a plumbing problem that we had left with housekeeping in the morning had still not been fixed.

And finally, on a Saturday afternoon we returned to our room, hot and tired at 4:00pm, only to find that it had still not been cleaned. Housekeeping finally knocked on our door at 4:30 and had the room cleaned up by 5:00 but this is completely unacceptable in a hotel that charges these kinds of rates.

The bed was very comfortable but both the bedding and pillows were skimpy, as were the towels. The air conditioning was effective but loud. Moreover, the cooling was uneven: when one end of the room was comfortable, the other end was like a meat locker. All in all, far from our best Marriott experience.

This is a relatively new hotel in a very busy suburban neighborhood. It is convenient to I-64 and the blue line Metrolink train, as well as to numerous office towers and factories. The surrounding neighborhood is clean and seemed reasonably safe at all hours. There's a good variety of fast food and casual restaurants nearby, as well as "big box" retail stores. Parking is free in a ramp that the hotel appears to share with a condo building next door. Local police appear to patrol the parking ramp frequently.

The hotel itself was nice and had a very modern feel to it. I was checked in quickly and assigned a room on the top floor. The room was fine, though as others have noted the main thing that makes it a "suite" is the sofabed. Besides that it's basically just a large and well appointed hotel room. Among the negatives, the TV was positioned VERY awkwardly--to the point that it was difficult to watch from both the sitting and sleeping areas. There was only a shower (no tub), and not much force to the spray. Also the bed was uncomfortably soft and the air conditioning didn't seem to respond quickly to changes in the thermostat.

Breakfast was probably the biggest negative at this hotel. Compared to other SpringHill Suites properties I've stayed at, the offerings seemed skimpy, and they were very slow to re-stock items that ran short. They even ran out of coffee, and there was a long wait before they replenished that. The breakfast area is also very small and very awkwardly set up. Most of the seating is at a long communal table with high seating of the sort you might find at a bar. The kids that were having breakfast seemed to enjoy that, but I'd much rather have a private table first thing in the morning.

There weren't any major problems with the hotel, but it all in all it seemed overpriced. I've paid much less when I've stayed at SpringHill Suites properties in Chicago, New Orleans, and Washington, D.C., and I noticed that hotels in downtown St. Louis were charging lower rates than this suburban location.

Very clean hotel and located with easy access to the MetroLink and all of the best St. Louis attractions. But a it falls short in a few areas. The room layout is a little odd. There is a half wall dividing the living area from the sleeping area and it contains a large frosted glass window. So light from the living area filters through to the sleeping area...actually right beside one of the beds. Not a big deal if travelling by yourself but with a family it is makes it difficult for anyone to sleep if another family member is up. The same with the bathroom situation. There is a frosted glass door on the bathroom and no door on the separate vanity area. When I wanted to get up before my family to shower and get ready for the day, the light spilled in to the sleeping area. I suspect this is the design of all of their rooms no matter the location. However families should be aware of this. The complimentary breakfast was delicious, but there was not enough tables and chairs to accommodate the weekend crowd...and this wasn't a weekend that the Cardinals were in town. We've stayed at other suite style hotels in the area and this pool was much smaller than what we've found at the others. That said, the price was about $50 cheaper per night....so that is definitely something to consider.

I stayed at this hotel 1 night with a friend. We came to St. Louis to visit the City Museum. I was very impressed with how clean and new it looked. The staff was very friendly. Great free breakfast, eggs, sausage, cheese, english muffins, muffins, waffles, cereals, fruits, etc. very nice selection. In walking distance to other restaurants. Very comfortable beds, big bathroom. The pool was small but we didnt swim. I personally was very excited that i could plug my ipod into the clock radio, nice. All in all i couldnt have been more pleased.

Stayed at the SpringHill Suites for 3 nights with husband and 2 young kids (<3) in early June to visit relatives in St. Louis.
The room was spacious and clean with a fridge, microwave, and sink and a separate seating and sleeping area. We packed lunches and snacks each day and the sink in the mini-kitchen area was nice for doing dishes and filling water bottles. Lobby area was nice with tables for visiting or eating take-out dinner. There is also an outdoor patio with tables.
Convenient location-10 minutes to zoo, 10 minutes to botanical gardens, 15 minutes to airport, close to several playgrounds.
If you are traveling with kids-be sure to ask at the desk for free passes to The Heights. The Heights has a very nice pool (water slides, fountains, lazy river) and a great playground. Amazing place!
Will stay here again on our next trip!

Room Tip: We staying on the 5th floor and didn't have any issues with noise from nearby restaurants as som...

Grandma, Grandpa and grandson stayed 3 nights last week. Pluses: Location, friendly staff, free parking.

Minuses: Our "suite" was an odd mix. Half a wall divided sitting area from bed area, but translucent window in wall let in light to sleeping area. Small closet located at very back of room next to one of the beds. Tub and toilet in separate room with translucent glass in door. Grab bar in tub was not placed correctly for safety. No place to put anything except on the floor or top of toilet seat, and there was only 1 hook for towel or clothing. Single sink outside tub/toilet gave no privacy to someone getting ready. Pull-out couch was uncomfortable for young grandson, and the room seemed more suited to a single business traveler than a family.

Walls were VERY thin and we heard our neighbors every night, plus there was a lot of noise from room above us. Hotel is located next to two restaurant/bars and late night crowd was loud under our 2nd floor window.

Breakfast buffet was less than great. Room filled up quickly and we ended up eating breakfast out the last two mornings we were there.

Pool is a joke at about 29 feet long by 10 feet across. Ask for free day pass to community center nearby. Not good on weekends, but nice water park with slide and whirlpool.

If we stayed here again, I would request an upper floor away from the restaurant/bars.
Easy to get to off the freeway and a short drive to the Metro station.

We stayed at the hotel end of May 2013. The location is far away from downtown but close to Forest Park. Major stores e.g. Walmart and malls are close. Some restaurants just opposite of the hotel. Free parking in the adjacent garage. The hotel has very friendly and helpful employees. The rooms are spacious with a kind of separated seating area but have only one large TV set which you have to also use for the bedroom. Noisy fridge and a noisy aircon are some drawbacks. The aircon unit in the sleeping room is just behind one bed, the cold airflow comes directly at the sleeper. There is a small but well equipped fitness center and a small indoor pool which also has a lift for handicapped people.
The hotel offers a free breakfast of ok quality for all hotel guests which is appreciated by a lot of families in the morning.
All in all a good hotel for a decent price.
